As Halloween starts to get closer and closer, I find myself seeing post after post on social media about what people are planning to be for Halloween. Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays, so when October rolls, I can't help but make my predictions about what the most popular costumes of the year will be. Here are some of the costumes I expect to see a lot of this Halloween:
10. Rolling in at number ten is Harambe. This problematic costume probably won't be seen as much as the others on this list, due to Harambe's death happening almost six months ago, but I am sure our deceased friend will be making an appearance at this year's Halloween festivities.
9. At number nine we have a ghostbuster. This costume is relatively easy to recreate and it's had a surge in popularity since the Ghostbusters remake came out. Because of the entirely female cast of the remake, this costume is sure to gain even more popularity for women, which places it as number nine on my list.
8. At number eight we have Kylo Ren. I didn't expect this costume to really be seen at all, because of the movie coming out almost a year ago, but after going to my fall festival at Church, the number of tiny Kylo Ren's running around was almost shocking. The sheer number of kids dressed up as this infamous Star Wars character caused it to practically soar into the number eight spot on my list.
7. At the number seven spot, we have Deadpool. I'm not really surprised he's on my list this year. Deadpool was one of the most highly anticipated films of 2016 after Deadpool's horrible, I repeat, horrible debut in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I'm positive that there will be a plethora of Deadpool's this year, all snarky and ready to dominate this year's Halloween.
6. Number six made it onto this list, purely because it is a fan favorite of every Halloween. There was no real spike in popularity for Batman this year, other than his brief moments in Suicide Squad, so he made it onto this list only because there will always be hundreds of people dressing as Batman on Halloween.
5. At number five we have Eleven, from the hit TV show Stranger Things. Stranger Things gained a massive following after its debut on July 15th of this year. As a massive fan of this show myself, I know that Eleven will be a huge feature of this year's Halloween. And if you haven't heard of Eleven or Stranger Things, go watch it. You're missing out.
4. Number four are costumes I really, really wish weren't going to be a hit this Halloween, but with the election literally right around the corner, it's inevitable. With the added popularity from Saturday Night Live and the memes circulating this election, I am positive that I will be seeing several Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump costumes this Halloween.
3. At number three we have a costume that, a few weeks ago, I was ready to stick at the number one slot on this list. But in light of recent events, it has been demoted to third runner up. That said, I am positive that there will be way, way, too many Harley Quinn's and Joker's running around this Halloween.
2. After last Sunday's horrific episode of The Walking Dead, there isn't a doubt in my mind that we will see hundreds and hundreds of Negan's walking around. (NOTE: I wasn't able to find any retailers that are currently selling a Negan costume, but there are several tutorials for making a DIY costume online. This is the best one I found.)
1. And finally, the moment you've all been waiting for. At number one we have... Clowns. That's right, clowns. With the recent mass clown sightings all across the United States, it won't surprise me if the already terrifying number of clowns that are usually seen on Halloween doubles in size. People tend to take advantage of whatever terrifying things are currently happen and use those to, well, terrify even more people.
