Some of the simple things...

20 Things To Learn By 20

As a 19 year old Sophomore in college, I feel like there is a lot to learn. My goal is to successful and happy so here are twenty things to learn by the time I am twenty years old.

1. It's okay to fail.

No, really it is. I have learned my greatest lessons by failing.

2. It's only a mistake until you make the same decision over and over. It then becomes a choice.

I have made lots of mistakes, however, those mistakes turn into choices when you make the decision to make the same mistakes over and over again.

3. Try something new. You won't ever experience life if you don't come out of your comfort zone.

For example, after swearing I would never join a sorority, I am going through recruitment this fall.

4. Don't let fear hold you back.

There are so many times in life where you have to say "F It, I'm going for it.". If you don't, you'll live a life full of what ifs instead of oh wells.

5. Be passionate.

Find your passions and let them drive you to change the world. We are powerful.

6. Take your education seriously.

I absolutely hate seeing people take college as a joke. You're going to school to train yourself for what you want to do for the rest of your life. Love it and learn everything you can.

7. Love yourself.

You truly can not experience a happy life until you can love yourself as an individual.

8. Travel.

Every chance you get, travel. Find some friends to experience the world with.

9. Laugh.

Laugh at everything. Your smile is the most beautiful thing in the world.

10. Don't be oblivious.

Be aware of what is going on in society, and really think of how you can make a difference.

11. You define yourself.

In the end, it's up to you to decide how you want to be known as.

12. Take naps.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying life, however, take time to recharge. Being healthy is just as important.

13. Exercise.

Do yoga. Go for a run. Anything. Keeping yourself active keeps you ready for the world.

14. Write.

Keeping a journal is the best thing i've ever done. It feels so good to have my thoughts and feelings organized in a book that no one can judge me for.

15. You're only young once.

Live every day as your last. It's super clique but it's so true. Really take every day as a chance to be or do something awesome.

16. Drop everything that makes you unhappy.

Don't settle for anything less than you deserve.

17. Respect others.

Just be nice. We live in a society where it's important to be nice. I believe this a value that everyone can use.

18. Cry.

Yes, cry. Have emotional breakdowns. Stress out. Get angry. It's important to be able to feel your emotions and use them in a good way.

19. Thank everyone in your life.

Thank your parents, brother, friends. Thank everyone for being apart of your life because you wouldn't be here without them.

20. It's not about the destination, but the journey.

In twenty years, you're going to remember the experiences that led to where you are. Enjoy every memory. Live for the memories, and focus on the now. Take every day one step at a time and really experience the life you were given.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
