During the hustle and bustle that is life, it is easy to forget to sit back and remember what we are thankful for. So what better time to do so than during the Thanksgiving season. Here is a list of some things that I am thankful for this year, and really every year. I encourage everyone who reads this to do the same and think about the things that they are thankful for this year.

1. I am thankful for my parents—and everything they do for me.

2. I am thankful for my brother—because even though we do not talk that often, he still has helped shape who I am today.

3. I am thankful for my extended family—through the ups and the downs, I know they are always there.

4. I am thankful for my family that has passed away—even though they are not here anymore, I know they are watching over me, guiding me, and forever will have an influence in my life.

5. I am thankful for my friends—new, old, and everyone in between.

6. I am thankful for my friends that I am no longer friends with—no matter how our friendship ended, you shaped me into the person I am today.

7. I am thankful for my boyfriend—no matter if it's a great day or a terrible day, he is always there for love and support.

8. I am thankful for my school—it may be tiny, and it may be hard to find things to do on the weekends, but it is an amazing school that has already given me so much.

9. I am thankful for my classmates—to the ones I have met and had small conversations with, to the ones I have only seen with a passing glance, to even the ones I have never met you make Ashland special.

10. I am thankful for my community—you never know how much you miss your small town until you leave and have to figure out a new Walmart layout.

11. I am thankful for the past schools I have attended—they were wonderful schools that taught me so much more than just the basic education.

12. I am thankful for the sports teams I have been a part of—they taught me teamwork and brought me to some of my closest friends.

13. I am thankful for my health—this is something we take for granted way too often.

14. I am thankful for my job—it might be a pain to go to sometimes, but I am lucky to have it and gain more experience in different fields.

15. I am thankful for my teachers—without their help, I would not be able to achieve what I want to achieve in life.

16. I am thankful for my country—even through the craziness I am happy to live in a land of opportunity.

17. I am thankful for my sense of humor—for if I did not have it, I do not think I could have made it through a lot of the obstacles in my life.

18. I am thankful for my ability to write—it might have a million and ten grammar and spelling mistakes, but it is truly the best stress release.

19. I am thankful for Odyssey—for allowing me the great opportunity to write for them.

20. I am thankful for the food I am able to eat every day—I have never known going to bed hungry because I did not have food; some people do not have that luxury.

21. I am thankful for the trips I have been able to go on—I have had the opportunity to see so many amazing places in this country and world.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
