1. You spent or still spend way too much time at Queens Center Mall.
Let's face it. No matter how disgusting or trashy you might have thought Queens Center was, you found yourself going there after school a lot. And this probably led you to spending too much money on Chipotle. And if you ever go to Queens Center Mall, you definitely know the crazy guy with the hair straightener.
2. You never go to Manhattan, and if you do, you probably dread the entire experience.
So many tourists.....
3. You spent a lot of money on these as a teenager.
As a teenager in Queens, MetroCards would practically be a necessity for you. You would probably take the bus everywhere you had to go.
4. When you were in high school, the unlimited MetroCard was a blessing for you.
And you always made sure that you got on a bus or train before 8:30 so that you didn't need to pay an extra $2.50 (or the current $2.75 bus fare) to get home.
5. Juniper Park was the perfect place for practically anything as a kid.
Manhunt, sledding, climbing trees, etc.
6. You spent way too many nights at Atlas as a kid.
You could head over to Atlas and go see a movie and then go to Johnny Rockets with your friends- sounds like every middle schooler's paradise. And if you didn't see your movies here, you probably went to Fresh Meadows once they had the reclined seats put in. HOW AWESOME WAS THAT!?
7. Whether it was outside of your school or at the park, you always saw someone selling those one dollar Italian ices.
And if you never got the lemon lime ice, then what were you even doing?
8. If you were looking to go all out with your allowance as a kid, you'd head over to Corona because they have the best ices.
Nothing better than a trip to the Lemon Ice King of Corona on a hot summer da!
9. Cherry Valley was the best place ever because their sandwiches were simply heavenly.
Not to mention how you would always feel like you were ordering in some type of secret code because of the unique names of each sandwich. If you go there for the first time, I suggest you try the Bushman- who doesn't love chicken cutlet, bacon, and cheese!?
10. There was always a deli/bodega at the end of each block.
It was definitely the most convenient thing when you were really hungry but didn't want to walk anywhere too far.
11. The "bacon egg and cheese with an Arizona iced tea" breakfast was typical for most Queens natives.
And when you walked into your deli in the morning the guy probably knew exactly what you wanted before you even had to say it.
12. You would spend a lot of your summer in Rockaway.
Being that Rockaway is the nearest beach for most Queens natives, a lot of us can vividly remember the long rides on the Q53 that we would take in order to get to the beach. And if you lived in Rockaway, you probably spent way too much time on the Q52/53.
13. If you were a Mets fan, you were definitely proud to be a part of Queens.
And if you were a Yankees fan, you'd probably brag about the 27 times that the Yankees won the World Series to shut the Mets fans up.
14. Flushing was the best place to go to for any type of Asian cuisine.
As crowded as Main Street would be, it wouldn't stop most people from going out to get a good meal. Flushing is one of the many towns that prove how diverse our borough truly is.
15. If you ever drive down Woodhaven, you've probably seen this face before.
Next time you're near Jamaica Avenue, try and see if you can spot this mysterious face located on the bridge where the J Train is located.
16. There are numerous places where you can find some really good dessert.
Two really great spots are Eddie's Sweet Shop and Martha's Country Bakery, both located in Forest Hills.
17. We really do have the best pizza.
One of the best stereotypes of New York is the idea that we have the best pizza in the country. Being an avid pizza lover, I can support this stereotype with 100% certainty. If you're looking for somewhere to grab some quality pizza in Queens, I suggest heading over to Rosa's Pizza in Maspeth or New Park Pizza in Howard Beach.
18. You can find some of the greatest views of Manhattan from Queens.
Long Island City piers definitely has one of the best views of Manhattan. This seems to be an extremely popular spot for people to go to on the 4th of July.
19. As urban as Queens can seem at times, there are some spots where you can explore the beautiful nature that can seem hidden at times.
The Queens Botanical Garden in Flushing, Flushing Meadows Park, and Astoria Park are just a few of the beautiful places you can visit in Queens. Don't forget to bring a camera so you can capture the beautiful flora that surrounds Queens.
20. Queens is by far the best and most underrated borough!
There's a reason why Queens was named the top destination for travelers in 2016!
