Today, I turned 20. I never really thought ahead to my 20th birthday, and you never really hear much hype about it either. The big celebrations are reserved for the 16th, the 21st, the 50th; birthdays like that. Those birthday’s are dubbed as being “special” because they are a significant milestone in one’s life. While 20 doesn’t have a known significance revolving around it, I decided to put together 20 reason to be thankful on your 20th.
- You’re not a teenager anymore!
- Only one more year until the big 2-1 rolls around.
- Two whole decades, that’s something to be proud of.
- It’s always acceptable to chow down on as much cake as humanly possible on your birthday, so enjoy!
- The closeness to adulthood without the impending responsibility.
- Officially being classified as a twenty-something.
- Not being 30.
- You beat teen pregnancy!
- All the Happy Birthday texts, facebook posts, instagrams, and snapchats!
- The annual card you always get from your grandparents.
- Birthday Presents!
- Getting to pretend you feel different when everyone asks you if you feel older.
- It’s the one-day a year where selfishness is totally acceptable.
- Having loved ones come together to celebrate with you.
- Singing 50 Cent’s In Da Club all day long.
- That giddy feeling you have all day – you know the one I’m talking about.
- Kissing all of 19’s mistakes goodbye.
- It’s a nice even number (for all of you even number fans out there).
- You can say “I’m 20 years old, I think I know what I’m doing,” and people have to admit that you’re right.
- Another beautiful year of life!
I’m not quite sure what 20 will bring me, but I do know that I’m grateful it’s here and I’m more than ready to take on all of it’s gifts and challenges.
