20 Things I'm Embarrassed To Like/Do At 20

Is it too late now to say sorry?

20 Things I'm Embarrassed To Like/Do At 20

I became aware of this list when I was in class doing an icebreaker and I had to tell each one of my classmates a different interesting fact about myself... At that point I realized that I was just going to go for it and leave all my shame at the door.

1. Justin Bieber

Yep, since 2011 you can say I’ve been a Belieber. A poster and a calendar still hang in my room and his CD’s still end up on my Christmas list.

2. Naps

If I had the time I would take five naps a day and still get a full night sleep.

3. Starbucks

Every chance I get and I know it all adds up to a lot of money I could be saving, but I can’t stop.

4. Riding on a shopping cart

At least I make sure there aren’t any cars or people in the way first…

5. Hot dogs and mac and cheese

This is a go to lunch or dinner, 365 days a year.

6. Waking up early

Super weird for a college student and maybe not before the sun is up, but 7 am is almost my favorite time of day.

7. Not making my bed

I don’t know why, it’s just not something that I think about doing every morning.

8. Doing puzzles

Call me a grandma, but it’s very relaxing.

9. Shopping the clearance section

By far my favorite part of any store and I get upset when a store doesn’t have one, who doesn’t love a good deal?

10. Using my pants as a napkin

After 20 years it’s become muscle memory, even if there is a napkin sitting in front of me, I prefer my pants.

11. Talking to myself

There’s no denying that I have full conversations with myself, out loud, in public.

12. Crocs

I know they are the latest fashion don’t, but hey, I gotta rock out with my Crocs out.

13. Happy Meals

You get chicken nuggets, fries, a drink, and a toy for $4.50, that’s hard to beat and even harder to say no to, am I right?

14. Lunchables

It’s a great week at Kroger when Lunchables are ten for $10.

15. Ignoring the trash for days

It’s not just my fault, my roommates do it too!

16. Using a Magic 8 Ball to make big decisions

Why should I make decisions for myself when I could easily just shake a ball and it makes the decisions for me?

17. Paper copies instead of electronic copies

I know it’s a waste of paper, but it’s so much easier to keep track of rather than something I have to pull up on my phone or computer all the time.

18. Drinking juice boxes

I didn’t buy a mini fridge for food or water bottles, it’s strictly for juice boxes.

19. Dino chicken nuggets

Chicken nuggets are a great thing, but put them in the shape of dinosaurs and it’s life changing.

20. Snail mail

It means so much more to get a letter in the mail than in my email, even if it is a bill that I owe $500 on.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
