Being a gymnast was not a sport, it was a way of life. As a full-time gymnast, gymnastics came before everything: friends, social life, boyfriends, and sadly, sometimes even family. For nearly a decade, the daily trip to the gym was the part of the day we either looked forward to or dreaded. Looking back on our lives, gymnastics was a highlight that we will miss and remember forever.
Here are a few signs you are a past gymnast.
1. You can still do flips ... kind of.
2. You were possibly home-schooled for a period of time.
3. You have a drawer somewhere full of old leos and medals.
4. You still have nightmares of falling on bars or beam.
5. You live vicariously through other, younger gymnasts.
6. You follow the Olympics with the enthusiasm of a die hard NFL fan.
7. Your social life was literally nonexistent.
8. You are going to put your child in gymnastics whether they like it or not.
9. "Bars" has an entirely new and different meaning now that we're grown up.
10. You became a cheerleader even though you swore you would never do such a thing.
11. This is still one of your all-time favorite movies.
12. You're nowhere near as in shape as you used to be.
13. You're still somewhat socially awkward from your intense gymnastics period.

14. You're mad that you quit.
15. But you're glad you finally got a social life.
16. Nothing will break the bond you have with your gym friends.
17. And no matter what, you will always define yourself as a gymnast.
What a childhood to remember.
