Every girl has the memories of the sleepovers, movie nights, and choreographed dances with friends to movies they loved growing up. As a young girl, it was easy to envision yourself in the movie and living through the characters you grew up adoring; being someone or something bigger than you were. We fell in love when the women on and off the screen did and had hopes to be just like them one day. From the girl falling in love with her prince charming, to becoming a princess, or creating lifelong friendships, there was no limit. It showed us how great life could be and all of the possibilities. They taught us to stand up for what is right, do what is right, and, of course, how to have a great time. The movies we watched became an outlet for us all, so whether you were watching because of the boy who did you wrong, the girls night in, or the songs you sang along with it, I think we can all relate to watching this list of movies over and over again.
1. "The Lizzie McGuire Movie"
The amount of times I've watched this is ridiculous, and I'm sure the same goes for you. There is no denying we've all had our own concert to 'This is What Dreams are Made Of' in our family rooms with our friends and wished we were the ones traveling in Italy.
2. "Princess Diaries" 1 and 2
Every girl's dream is to be a princess, so I think it's fair to say we all lived vicariously through Princess Mia, since she went from attending school like any regular kid growing up, to becoming Princess of Genovia and living the life.
3. "She’s The Man"
Hands down one of the funniest Amanda Bynes movies. If you didn't see this movie, you're doing life wrong. There are so many great one liners, different uses for tampons, and, oh yeah, Channing Tatum, thank you.
4. "Bring It On"
This is one that never gets old and the fact that they made more sequels is even better. This movie really illustrated the cutthroat competition of cheerleaders within the high school girls, but how can you not love that?
5. "Freaky Friday"
Lindsey Lohan was the teenage girl that felt like such an outsider in her own family, and was such a rebellious lead singer of a garage band. So the fact that she switched lives with her therapist mother was hilarious. Especially when their love lives got switched with it...hah.
6. "Cinderella Story"
This is definitely is a favorite, I think we can all say we wished we were 'Sam' in this movie, minus the annoying step mother and step siblings she was left with. This was such a good representation of how even the girl who feels invisible to most can catch someone like Austin Ames' eye.
7. "Mean Girls"
A classic no doubt, this a movie we all still quote even now. We saw Jingle Bell Rock a whole lot differently after watching this one, what high school was going to be like, and also how petty girls can be to each other. But this movie could not be not be any more relevant today.
8. "Cheetah Girls"
Friendship goals actually. I think it's fair to say that we all grew up obsessing over the Cheetah Girls, the songs, and learned the choreography. Hopefully that wasn't just me and my friends.
9. "13 going on 30"
As teens we always wish to be older and to grow up. This thirteen year-old specifically wished for that, and boy did her wish come true (since she woke up as a thirty year-old in the morning). This movie taught us all to slow down and to enjoy our time as teens, because being an adult isn't all it's cracked up to be, because, you know, responsibilities.
10. "Legally Blonde"
This one was for all the blondes with brains that have been underestimated. The sass and intelligence that came out of this petite blonde had us all on the floor. "Bend and snap!"
11. "John Tucker Must Die"
This was definitely for the girls who were done wrong by a guy and heart broken. This movie gave us all life, watching these girls get revenge for a jerk of a boyfriend they shared.
12. "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants"
Little did we know how relatable this was going to be for us growing up. The difficulty of staying in touch with friends traveling and going to college is very real. Even though they are all very different, physically and as people, they vowed to send the pants — which they call the Traveling Pants — to one another throughout the summer. #friendshipgoals
