15 Ways Not To Lose Your Mind During Finals Week

The worst time of the year is finally here: finals. It's the time of year where we, students, finally wrap up and pull through in our classes even if we don't want to. It's hard to give it your all when the semester has sucked all the motivation out of you and summer is so close. It's the time of the school year that comes with major mental breakdowns and wanting just simply to pass. Before you completely turn off your brain and go into the summer mode, make sure you take the time to finish the semester strong and have all your hard work throughout the semester finally pay off when you get that stellar final grade!

1. Meditate

In order to relax and alleviate some of the major stress and anxiety we are feeling, it is good to take a deep breath and relax for a minute or two. Remember, your mental health is more important and that little bit of time you take to take care of your mental health makes all the difference.

2. Drink some tea

Tea has been proven to help relax the muscles as well as reduce stress. Make sure you keep a box of tea with you at all times during finals week so you can plop it right into a hot cup of water and be relaxed.

3. Organize

With the chaos that is finals week, it is nice to be able to put something in order: whether that be cleaning your room or creating a review sheet for a final, it'll help.

4. Take a short nap

You'll most likely be spending every single night studying for a final this week, so make sure you get a nap in. Sleep deprivation is the last thing you want when taking a two hour test that could make or break your grade.

5. Watch a movie

Movies, especially our favorites, make us happy every time we watch them, no matter how many times we do. You'll need a little bit of happiness during this week, so take an hour or two out of your hectic schedule and be happy.

6. Stretch

Along with the meditation and the green tea, stretch those sore, anxiety-ridden muscles out.

7. Take a walk

Since you'll most likely be cooped up in the library or your room, studying for you various tests, it's good to go out and get some fresh air and some sun. You'll probably feel like a vampire during it, but won't regret it later.

8. Eat some chocolate

Since chocolate makes anyone happy in any situation. But in reality, eat anything that makes you happy during finals week, even if it's everything in the refrigerator.

9. Cuddle with your best friend

...And by best friend I mean your pet. There's nothing like spending time and cuddling with your best friend. And even if you don't have a pet just look at this picture of pups cuddling and enjoy it.

10. Watch some Netflix

11. Talk to someone

It is always good to be able to vent to a friend or family member in times of stress and anxiety. Even if it's to cry on the phone with your mom, you'll feel much better after talking your stresses out.

12. Listen to music

Listening to music allows us to take a break from reality and go into our own worlds. Listening to music at the end of a long day of studying will help relax you for the big exam.

13. Take a shower

I usually take half an hour showers on a normal day, but during finals week it's bumped up to an hour and a half. Taking a long, hot shower will for sure make you feel more calmed and relaxed when studying (and crying during it may help as well).

14. Chew gum

Chewing gum is a good way to keep your focus on studying. Even if you chew like a cow it'll be worth it when you know everything you need to know for your exam.

15. Go to the gym

Getting exercise is the best way to relieve stress and it'll make you feel more motivated afterwards.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
