10 Study Breaks To Help You Stay Sane During Finals

Whether you have a weekend or a "dead week" to prepare, finals week is a time of stress and panic. While it is important to focus on the matter at hand, it is equally important to remember to take breaks as well. Below are 10 easy and quick breaks you can take to make sure you get the full potential out of your study sessions.

1. Take a lap

Walk a quick lap around the library, and bring some energy back into your body after sitting for a long period of time!

2. Catch some quick zzzs

This doesn't mean settling down for your usual afternoon nap. Allow yourself a quick 30 minute nap, and wake up refreshed and ready to buckle down!

3. Treat yourself

Set a study goal for yourself, and when you complete it, reward yourself. This might be with a coffee or a quick scroll through social media, but whatever it may be, having a goal in mind will give you something to look forward to!

4. Tidy your work space

There is nothing more stressful than studying in a hectic and messy work space. Take a few minutes to clean your area and take some stress out of your day.

5. Meditate

A few minutes of meditation will let your clear your mind and the endless tasks at hand, allowing you to feel energized and ready to study hard.

6. Have a quick chat

Talking to your friends for a few minutes will bring up your energy level and, as a bonus, will keep your spirits up!

7. Take a shower

A quick shower will leave you feeling fresh and revitalized, and you will be left with a renewed focus on your work.

8. Run an errand

During finals week, your to do list grows longer and longer as the days tick by. Crossing off one small errand will take off some of the pressure and stress of your day, leaving you with a sense of accomplishment.

9. Do a creative activity

Whether it is coloring or singing a song, a creative activity will work your brain in a different way, and will allow you to relive stress at the same time.

10. Eat a healthy snack

While we may want to gravitate towards junk food and comfort food during finals week, instead try a healthy snack that will help you maintain your brain power, and leave your body feeling better than ever!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
