15 Things I Miss About Liberty University While At Home

Over the summer, I am very thankful to go home and spend time with my family. But there are certain aspects about college life that I miss while I am at home. I may complain while I am at school, but things are definitely missed. So here are 15 things that I miss about Liberty University while I am home for the summer.

1. The Freedom

College is a place where you don't have to worry about a parent telling you to clean your room or clean the kitchen. Naturally, coming home to rules and chores can be hard.

2. Having access to food 24/7

At Liberty, there is literally food everywhere. You don't even have to make it most of the time. It is all at the easy tips of your fingers around the clock.

3. The free gym

Being home, I miss having access to the huge gym facility at LU. Here I have to pay for a gym membership or run around my neighborhood. Plus I can't go to those exciting exercise classes.

4. Living with my best friends

Even though it isn't all fun and games all of the time, I miss having my best friends right there with me. We all are in different states now and snapchats and text messages just aren't the same.

5. The Mountains

One of the most incredible things about going to LU are the mountains that surround it. My friends and I were always taking morning hikes or evening strolls on the mountains surrounding the campus.

6. Convocation

Some weeks, I really was not feeling it, but I definitely miss having exciting speakers and incredible pastors pouring into my life. Not to mention campus band.

7. Sporting events and tailgating

College football is my absolute favorite. I really miss the hype from going to games and tailgating with my friends. All sporting events at LU are hype and I miss the free access and loud cheering from late night games.

8. Late night runs to the overly packed cookout

Nothing beats a midnight cookout milkshake. Yes we would have to get there at 11:30 just to make sure we made the 12:30 curfew, but cookout runs are greatly missed. Especially if you needed a break from studying or a relaxing time with your friends. Even though basically all of campus would be in there on a Friday night.

9. The Monogram

I love the monogram. I definitely miss that gorgeous view and perfect spot for Eno-ing. Plus the hike up there is a great Saturday morning activity.

10. The sunsets

Lynchburg sunsets can't be beat. Being in the valley of all of the surrounding mountains, there is always a promise of an incredible sunset. I truly miss seeing it in person as well as all 50 snap stories of people who had to capture "the perfect sunset." (Don't worry I posted one too).

11. Campus Community

I miss this time of worship and diving into the scripture each Wednesday night. It made me feel so incredibly close to my hall and other peers. I can't wait for fall semester when it all starts back up again.

12. Dorm Life

The hall life at LU is great and I miss it. You bond so much with the people on your halls and its always like a reunion when you come home after a long day of class. Not to mention you have so many prayer warriors right next door to you.

13. Bonding study sessions in the library

Even though I hated studying, I definitely miss bonding with my friends in the Library. Most of the time we would get distracted and talk about everything BUT what we were studying, but it was still fun to study with your friends. Also, Starbucks, Auntie Anne's, and Pizza Hut all under one roof. That can't be beat.

14. The Campus

I definitely miss walking around campus and just soaking in how nice it was. The beautiful buildings (and the promise of future buildings with all that construction I might add) make it feel like home when going to class or getting something to eat.

15. Lynchburg

Even though us LU kids are ALWAYS complaining about Lynchburg, we really do love it. I miss the convenience of everything and certain favorite restaurants that are 5 minutes away. It has such a small town feel with everything you need too.

Being home is great, but I definitely miss my second home and I am so excited for the fall.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
