The early 2000s were some wild times. Denim EVERYTHING, Myspace, Shrek movies, Paris Hilton and juicy couture tracksuits. The 2000s were also known for bringing scene kids. We all thought it wasn't a phase, thank God it was. Here are some things former scene kids can cringe too.
1. The hair
All the fringe, teasing, hair extensions, coon tails, hair straightening etc. The upkeep for the hair was a never ending process. And we thought this looked good?
2. The makeup
Thin eyebrows and thick eyeliner were killer. Bright eye shadow, and tons of foundation. Was it ever enough? It sure did not seem like it. Yikes.
3. The belt with the studs
It seemed like every scene kid had this belt in their closet and in different (probably neon) colors.
4. Converse/Vans
It seemed like no outfit was complete without a pair of worn out converse or vans.
5. Skinny jeans
The skinnier, the better.
6. The bracelets
You were super cool if you had a lot of every color.
7. "Rawr Means I Love You in Dinosaur xD"
Wtf was wrong with us.
8. Scene Queens/Kings
Jeffree Starr, Audrey Kitching just to name a few. We all wanted to be them, or at least be as popular as them.
9. The Sidekick cell phone
Remember how cool we felt flipping these out? Yeah. We definitely weren't.
10. Hot Topic
About 95 percent of all outfits came from this store. From hair dye to the perfect amount of skinny-ness skinny jeans.
11. Band t-shirts
A classic staple in the scene kid look.
12. Terrible music
Some of the worst music humanity has ever created came out during this period of time.
13. The weird obsession with Hello Kitty/Invader Zim/Diamonds etc.
100 years from now there is going be internet historians studying this and I am already sorry for them.
14. Warped Tour
The biggest gathering of scene kids to ever exist happens at Warped Tour.
15. "IT'S NOT A PHASE MOM THIS IS WHO I AM"
t
You can take the kid out of the scene, but you can't take the scene out of the kid.
