Lets face it, life is hard. Honestly, there is a lot in life that just flat out sucks. However, this can often times blind us to what the positives in our life are. You forget how good you actually have it. We are all guilty of this, myself included. Here are several signs that you are actually doing a lot better in life then you think you are.
1. You have a job.
Despite how little you may enjoy it, how much you are paid, or however much you hate the hours you work, you are making money for yourself. You are able to pay for the food you eat, the bed you sleep on, and the house you live in. This is not true of everyone, so be thankful you are blessed enough to be employed.
2. You have a roof over your head.
If you have a roof over your head, you are already more well off than millions and millions of people in the world. You are able to pay your bills and maybe even had a little extra to spend on yourself. It doesn't matter how much you dislike paying them, at least you are able to do so.
3. You are in college.
Yeah, you read that right. College is one of the biggest parts of one's life. It will more or less set up your career and future and put you on the right path for success.
4. You have parents or guardians who love you.
There are a select few people who will love you regardless of what you do in this life. These are those people. Don't forget how much they care about you.
5. You are different than you were one year ago.
Change is good. Knowing you are not the same person you were a year ago means you are growing and evolving through life. Look at how you have grown, for the better or for the worse.
6. You have 1-3 very close best friends.
Contrary to popular belief, more is not always better. Having a close knit group of friends to confide your secrets, fears, tears, smiles, and laughs in is invaluable. Always keep your friends close.
7. You understand the balance of holding on and letting go.
It's never easy to let someone you love go. However, you know this is what has to happen at times. You also know what to hold onto, and realize to never let that go. A very valuable gift to have.
8. You have spare cash to do the things you want.
If you want to go out to lunch with your friends, you can easily do that. If you want to go on a road trip, gas money isn't a problem. The little things are not a big worry for you.
9. You are not worried about where your next meal will come from.
You have food in the cupboard and money in your pocket. You don't have to be concerned about food at all.
10. You have a special place only you know about.
Whether it is the off the railroad tracks over the river or the old abandoned flour mill in the woods, having a spot where you can go and escape the troubles of the world around you is invaluable. Go, sit, breath, and relax.
11. You have questioned yourself before.
As odd as it may sound, questioning oneself can lead to the development of your character and personal being.
12. You've been through hell and back.
Whatever life throws your way, you come out swinging at it. At the end of the day, you're a better person because of that. Wading through all the crap in your past makes you stronger and through that personal experience, you know that you can make it through anything that comes your way.
