15 Signs You Grew up In Scottsdale Arizona
Reality Times

If you were lucky enough to be raised in "The Dale," here is a list of the wonderful things that shaped your childhood and who you are today. No matter how ridiculously hot or boring it sometimes got, you wouldn't have wanted to grow up anywhere else. You couldn't be more thankful to have been raised in such a gorgeous city that you always look forward to going back to.

1. You have witnessed at least a dozen of photo shoots taken on the top of Camelback Mountain. I mean it is one of the best views in Arizona, so what better place take an Insta at?

2. Your summers were spent traveling to California to escape the heat and enjoy the beach.

3. Field trips to the Phoenix Zoo or Botanical Gardens were one of your favorite memories from Elementary School.

4. In Middle School, Harkins Theaters was the ultimate hangout spot. The day your parents dropped you off there and allowed you to go in alone, you knew you made it.

5. You have attended at least one birthday dinner at Sapporo. Teppan Yaki is always a fun time and who doesn't love dressing up?

6. Your days after school consisted of getting Slushies or Icees from the closest gas station because it would be so grueling hot you needed a cold drink in order to cool you down.

7. As a kid you would play and ride the train at the Railroad Park. Birthday parties there were always something you looked forward to.

8. You spent the warm months crashing fancy resorts. No matter how many times you got caught and kicked out, you always ended up going back.

9. Your camera roll has forever been filled with countless sunset photos. One of the perks of living in such a gorgeous state, is you “specialize” in sunset photography.

10. Sam Fox sits on top of a throne in your mind. The amount of restaurants he has blessed our city with is heavenly. True Food, Sauce, Blanco...need I mention more?

11. Every winter you have to deal with the snow birds that invade our town. It wouldn't be December in Scottsdale without wanting to bang your head against your steering wheel because of their awful driving skills and traffic they cause.

12. You have been to basically every water park in Arizona. Big Surf, Sun Splash, and Wet and Wild were the most enjoyable ways to get through the heat without realizing you're actually melting.

13. You look forward to the Phoenix (Wasted Management) Open every February and have attended it more than once. Even though golf is boring, this tournament makes it entertaining to say the least.

14. Your Aj’s Fine Foods iced tea addiction has spiraled out of control throughout the years. But hey, it truly is the best $1.25 you can spend your money on.

15. When Scottsdale Quarter was built, your life was impacted forever. Being able to only shop at Fashion Square got boring, so thank goodness a trendy outside mall was developed.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
