There are so many food trends that are constantly hogging your Instagram newsfeed. And if you're normal, (A.K.A. not like me) and only follow one or two Instagram food accounts, then here is your go-to guide so that you can make sure you are staying #instaworthy 24/7. The motto is WTF... where's the food?!
1. Milkshakes @ Black Tap Craft
These milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard… one of the newest trends these days is Black Tap Craft’s insanely gorgeous milkshakes. Three of the most common flavors are: Sweet N’ Salty, Cotton Candy, and Cookie Shake. These Insta-worthy milkshakes have customers in Soho drooling for more. (One Yelp review said her wait was over four hours… but we all know it might be worth it for the ‘gram). Above is the Sweet N’ Salty: chocolate peanut butter rim with M&M’s and PB cups, topped with a Sugar Daddy, pretzel rod, chocolate covered pretzel, whipped cream and chocolate drizzle (photo credit: @hashtagkatieparks)
2. Poke @ Wisefish Poke
This is way more interesting than your average Facebook poke war. In fact, this one is a lot more appealing, too! Tons of restaurants around the city are starting their own poke wars!! Poke (pronounced poh-kay) is a raw fish salad, usually marinated in soy sauce and sesame oil. Some places serve poke along with avocado (cause what isn’t better with that?), onions, and jalapeños, poke makes for an amazing meal! Poke is a Hawaiian word meaning “to slice or cut,” which is why poke is served cube-shaped. Wisefish poke also serves many other options such as chicken, tofu and salmon, if tuna just isn’t your thing. (photo credit: @wisefishpoke)
3. Churro Cone @ ChikaLicious
This is out of cone-trol!!! ChikaLicious is serving ice cream in churro cones and they look absolutely incredible! Serving delectable desserts for decent prices, ChikaLicious will definitely be my first stop when I get to NYC. Seriously, this post speaks for itself. (photo credit: @feedyoursoull)
4. Cheese Stuffed Pizza Crust @ Patrizia’s of Manhattan
In pizza, we crust. Seriously, there’s nothing you can’t trust about this pizza (well, maybe the scale). Patrizia’s stuffs the crust with whatever you order on your pizza, so the margarita crust is filled with fresh mozzarella! On a side note, Yelp reviewers have referred to their bread and garlic oil as crack! Mangia! Mangia! (photo credit: @nyceeeeeats)
5. Ice Cream with A Shot of Tequila @ Ice and Vice
I didn’t think ice cream could get better, but it’s worth a shot! Flourless chocolate tequila cake, salty lime ice cream, chipotle powder, spiced bar nuts, and a shot of tequila. Sounds like a good recipe to make any bad day a bit better, or just an average day in college. (photo credits: @iceandvice)
6. Everything Bagel Donut @ The Doughnut Project @new_fork_city
NYC bagels are a cult and so are donuts so the doughnut project found a way to put it all together…The everything bagel donut!!! This yelp reviewer said, “Everything Doughnut - STUPENDOUS doughnut. This hybrid of a bagel and doughnut together is so palatable. This savory doughnut made was so scrumptious. I've tasted what a everything bagel taste like and this doughnut was really spot on. The flavorful is exactly as what you would expect. It tastes just like a everything bagel. It was amazingly good.” Seems like something I must try! (photo credit: @new_fork_city)
7. Macaron Donut @ Francois Payard Patisserie
Another place that seemingly mixed all the right things is Francois Payard Patisserie (just type it in Google Maps, never verbally ask for directions). This amazing dessert is called the macaronut! Seems like the holiest dessert in all of New York! (photo credit: @nycfoodgals)
8. Huge Cheese @ Raclette NYC
When I saw this on Instagram I thought, “you gouda brie kidding me?!” This might be my absolute must-have this summer. If you’re like me and you like cheese on everything, join me here weekly. (photo credits: @foodiequeen_nyc)
9. Guac Dumplings @ Mimi Cheng’s Dumplings
I’m really excited to guac and roll this summer for sure! These guacamole-stuffed dumplings are mind-blowing. Combining some of my favorite types of food, Mimi Cheng, you killed it. (photo credit: softcorefoodprn)
10. Rolled Up Ice Cream @ 10 Below Ice Cream
Not only is this Insta-worthy, its also Snapchat story worthy. The ice cream is flattened and then put into rolls while customers can watch behind the glass! The line is constantly out the door, but ice cream is always worth the wait. (photo credits: @Droolnyc)
11. Sushi Burrito @ Uma Temakeria
Here’s yet another Asian-Mexican cuisine mix! These bae-ritos are filled with tuna, crab, tofu or salmon and they look amazing. Yelp warns: be prepared to get your sushirrito on-the-go because the lines tend to get way too long. (photo credits: @hangrybitch)
12. Chocolate Panini @ M’o II Gelato
Described as: creamy cold Italian styled ice cream in between a warm brioche. These sandwiches have been trending all over Instagram and seem like one of the biggest things in town. (photo credit: @kellroons)
13. Avocado Toast @ Two Hands
Don’t worry -- it’s the good kind of fat!! This avocado toast looks so incredible, I can't even put words to it. (photo credits: @twohandsnyc)
14. Cereal Cones @ Emack and Bolios
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! These cones are the real cereal killer... considering they are covered with different amazing cereals, which complement the ice cream so perfectly. (photo credits: @food_ilysm)
15. Tie Dye Bagels @ The Bagel Store
Last, but not least, these are just simply beautiful. These bagels add a colorful touch to the already famous NYC bagels. They even have fun-fetti cream cheese to enhance the fun! They are seriously bae-goals. (photo credits: @augwarhol)
