15 Things You Must Know Before Dating Someone From Chicago
Peter Gubernat

No matter where I go, Chicago will always be my home. No matter if you are from the suburban area near Chicago or come from the downtown districts, Chicago is the home to many. How could you not love the city that sleeps a little bit, but also is filled with some of the most cultures in the United States? I know no matter what anyone tells me, Chicago is my home. I only hope that the next person thinking about dating me knows that. I for sure know they may need a warning before dating anyone from Chi-town.

1. People from the Windy City don't blow hot air around.

Chicagoans are pretty up front, just like many different types of people. There is no reason to sugar coat things.

2. You're Chicagoan will stay devoted to you, no matter how difficult times get.

It only took the Cubbies 108 years to win the World Series before taking home the W in 2016. Need I say more?

3. They will always know how to make you laugh.

Second City is one of the best comedy clubs in the nation. Case in point.

4. They live in the best place in the Midwest.

The adventures of dates are endless, whether you are jumping in a kayak or Ferris Wheel for the day, the adventures will always be memorable. You have a whole city as your romantic backdrop, even if some of the time you are sitting in a pizza parlor devouring deep dish.

5. They're prepared for every single climate in one day.

There is no such thing as one weather forecast for one season. Summers still may have a torrential downpour one day and be 90 degrees the next. Winters can be extremely mild, or you get a foot of snow in a night. You never really know, but your Chicagoan will be prepared. That I can guarantee.

6. Their love for you will be deeper than their pizza.

If you think thin crust pizza is the best, you obviously haven't been on a date downtown for pizza. Your Chicagoan will know exactly where to take you, and your life may just be changed by the pizza you will consume.

7. They already have mastered the awkwardness of the L train.

A number of people and smells can be way too overwhelming. Your Chicagoan will make it an adventure instead of something that just causes an anxiety attack.

8. You have the best dates right in front of you due to the amazing museums.

If Chicago was good enough for Ferris Buller, there is no way it isn't good enough for you.

9. You will finally get cute photos with someone other than yourself.

The amount of Instagram pictures you see of other couples downtown that you envy has grown as you get older. Finally, you get to be part of a duo instead of the silly selfies you try to take and make look cute.

10. They will stay by your side, specifically in the winter.

Seriously, though. You will always have a cuddle buddy, but it will be the best when winter comes and you're freezing (while trying to take cute pictures at The Bean).

11. When it's warm enough, you'll most definitely have dates by the lake.

Lake days are the best, whether you are venturing to the beach or taking a bike ride on Lake Shore Drive. Your Chicagoan will make sure it's romantic, even if you aren't completely convinced of the Divvy bikes at first.

12. They can make you enjoy a whole day at the most boring place called Navy Pier.

Who the heck wants to go somewhere that is literally called "Navy Pier"? What sounds fun about a pier? Literally everything to a Chicagoan. The possibilities are endless. You can stay inside, enjoying the stained glass, IMAX movies, and ridiculous food. You can also venture outside for so many boat tours, ice cream, and a beautiful view of Chicago as you walk on the Pier.

13. Concerts are always the most fun in Chicago.

Whether you are partying like it's your birthday at Lollapalooza, listening to Taylor Swift at Soldier Field, or snagged a ticket to Coloring Day at "U.S. Cellular Field", Chicagoans will make sure you feel right at home.

14. Lincoln Park Zoo is just better than any others.

You get a state of the art zoo and the downtown city all in one. How could you not fall in love?

15. You'll finally find someone that loves Chicago as much as you do.

No matter what, you can't help but love the Chicago skyline.

So if you're planning on asking that special someone on a date, you probably should. The Chicagoan is ready for your adventures, even if they are in a small town. Just know that when you do get to meet their hometown, it is unlike any other. That is something I can guarantee.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
