1. Buy new clothes.
“When you look good, you feel good.” But in order to look good, new clothing is an essential. Who cares if you aren’t made of money, go to Marshalls. Hell, go to a thrift store. You’d be surprised what you can find.
2. Exercise.
Whether it’s for 30 minutes or three hours, make it a point to incorporate some physical activity into your day. It is a great way to escape from reality and make you happier and healthier at the same time.
3. Ignore anything that comes in between you and your joy.
It sounds simple, but I know that it isn’t. It just has to be done, not matter how difficult. Whether it’s a person, a place, or a type of food, the easiest way to be happy is to get rid of what makes you unhappy. Avoid anything and everything that is going ruin your good mood.
4. Overdose on what makes you happy.
Do you love your ice cream at the end of a long day of eating healthy? Do you love binge-watching Netflix until 2 a.m.? Do you love to take long baths or paint tons of canvases that you will probably never hang up? Then do it. Nothing can make you happier than doing what makes you happy over and over again.
5. Surround yourself with people who make you laugh.
I cannot stress this one enough. Go out of your way to be with those who make you roll on the floor laughing. After all, happiness is laughter.
6. Look nice.
Make it a priority to always look your best. Not only will you feel better about yourself, but also you never know whom you could bump into.
7. Eat right.
It isn’t so hard to cut the bad foods out of your diet. I’m not saying to stop eating the foods that you love every once in a while, but be mindful of what you put into your body. You have that thing forever, and you must take care of it.
8. Go for walks.
Fresh air is your friend.
9. Listen to good music.
Find inspiring, upbeat, happy songs and jam out in your car and scream at the top of your lungs. Who cares if the person stopped next to you is staring, you will likely never see them again in your life.
10. Stop looking back on your past and focus on your future.
Whatever happened to you yesterday, the day before, or months and years ago is over with. There is nothing you can do about it, so it’s time to move on. Stop dwelling on what has happened and start imagining what is coming next.
11. Explore.
There is nothing more rewarding than going on a spontaneous adventure and seeing the world from other points of view. Get out of your comfort zone and do somethin’ crazy.
12. Make the most of every day.
Stop waiting for it to be Friday, next weekend, or summer vacation. Wake up on a Monday morning the way you would on a Saturday. Live every single day with a smile and a happy heart. You never know when it is going to be your last.
13. Be grateful.
Something that you take for granted may be something someone else prays for. Feel blessed for having what you do have, and try your best to be thankful that you don’t have it any worse.
14. Smile.
Every single second of every single day.
