14 Lessons "Friends" Taught Us

Growing up as a '90s baby and still being obsessed with "Friends," I think this news of the reunion is the best thing to happen in all of 2016. Not only do I watch the reruns on TBS and Nick or have the show in my Netflix "Recently Viewed," I own all 10 seasons via DVD.

The past rumors and false tweets of a "Friends" reunion were the worst teasers ever. The fact that it is actually happening will bring a whole new era of "Friends" lovers. The show not only taught us that friends are like family, but it left us with some of the best life lessons.

1. Phoebe taught us that everyone has his or her lobster.

2. Rachel taught us that you could start at any point in your life and become successful.

That moment she cut up those credit cards and told her father she no longer wants to be a “shoe,” she didn’t know what was going to happen next, but she figured it out because all you need is determination and good people to back you up.

3. Monica taught us that being a little OCD won't hurt anyone.

If Richard stayed with her after she explained to him the right way to make the bed, then your friends should accept you if you have to make sure that pen stays in its place.

4. Laughing at yourself is OK according to Chandler.

Chandler’s jokes were not too funny, but the way he would say them would make everyone laugh. We all need that friend.

5. Food actually makes everything better in Joey’s life philosophy.

He could not be more right. If you're sad, eat that chocolate. If you want pizza, you got to go get that pizza.

6. Ross taught us more about dinosaurs than our fourth-grade field trip to the museum.

7. Ross also taught us that you might meet your lobster after your second marriage (cough, cough, Carroll and Elizabeth).

8. Chandler and Monica proved to us that your significant other needs to be your best friend, and it’s the best thing ever.

9. Phoebe showed us that everyone has a little weird in them, and it only makes you funnier.

10. Ross and Rachel taught us to always clarify when you’re on a break, or else you’re definitely going to regret it.

(Aka, the stupid girl from the copy place with the belly-button ring.)

11. Unagi should stay as a type of fish, Ross, not some defense technique.

12. Monica and Ross showed us that your siblings are also your best friends.

13. Rachel and Monica proved to us that living with your best friend is the funniest thing ever even though arguments may arise.

14. The most important lesson: A good group of friends is the best thing you can have to get through any obstacle in your life.

Each of those friends has different qualities about them that make your group wholesome. If everyone were the same, life would be so boring.

All in all, "Friends" taught us some of the best life lessons. Too bad the Central Perk is just a set and Mama's Little Bakery doesn’t exist. I guess the local Starbucks will suffice. So thank you, Ross, Rachel, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler, and Monica, for giving the world the best TV show series ever.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
