Even though the TV series "Friends" ended over 10 years ago, the legacy the show left behind still holds true. No one can forget the six lovable characters that sparked a phenomenon. I was 7 when "Friends" ended, and the series has been my favorite show for the past few years, just from watching reruns. However what I have discovered is we all have or are a Rachel, Phoebe, Monica, Chandler, Joey, or Ross in our friend group.
1. The Rachel
The Rachel of your group has a good heart and will always be there for you but they kind of live in their own world. The Rachel means well and doesn't really realize that their main focus in life is material objects. You can always depend on The Rachel for fashion advice, to find you a date, and as a partner in crime. However, expect your Rachel to be a little overdramatic at times. You may sit with them while they cry over not getting the date they wanted for Friday night or that they missed the sale at Nordstrom, but they will always be there to listen to you cry or rant.
2. The Phoebe
The Phoebe of your friend group is the one who marches to the beat of their own drum and doesn't really care what anyone thinks of them. The Phoebe is generally the caring, goofy, and occasionally spacey person of your friends. They are also a great person to go to for tough love. The Phoebe may try their best to be positive and upbeat most of the time but if they don't agree with something, they will let you know it. When everyone else is afraid to say what they're all thinking, you can bet your bottom dollar that The Phoebe will speak her mind.
3. The Monica
The Monica is the mom of the friend group. She likes structure and keeping the peace among the group. However, she can tend to want to micromanage certain aspects of her life, as well as her friends. She means no harm by this, she just tries to put structure into where she sees fit. Count on The Monica to take care of you when needed, clean up your messes, and tell you when you need to reevaluate your decisions. Just be careful, The Monica is a force to be reckoned with if you mess with people close to her.
4. The Chandler
Do you have that sightly socially awkward and sometimes inappropriately sarcastic friend? The Chandler is always trying to make people laugh, although they don't always know the appropriate time to. This is the friend that cracks a joke about someone and then realizes too late that they're in hearing distance. They're also the friend who is just not sure how to behave around the opposite sex. Through all their awkwardness and inappropriately timed jokes, they will always be one of your most caring and dependable friends.
5. The Joey
Did someone say food? The two things The Joey holds dearest to their heart is food and members of the opposite sex. This is the "player" of your friend group, no matter what gender they are. Though you love them dearly, this friend seems to have a new romantic interest every week. However, they will always be down to get food with you and can surely always find you a date to whatever it is you need one for. The Joey will always protect you and stand up for you. They can be frustrating at times but when times get tough, The Joey is a strong shoulder to cry on for support.
6. The Ross
The Ross is the friend that requires the most attention. They always seem to be upset or sad over something. The Ross can get frustrating because it seems like being happy is a rare occurrence for them. However, the upside of this is The Ross has been through hell, so they can always help you sort out your problems by telling you their experience with them. Keep The Ross close to your heart; they may be annoying at times with their melodramatics but they never want to see you hurt and will give anything to prevent it from happening.
