1. I am perpetually addicted to bananas.
Yep, 24/7, 365, I eat a banana ... and when I don't, there's just something a little "off" about the day (aka my legs cramp up to no end!).
2. My favorite outfit is shorts, a singlet and Asics.
3. My favorite place to shop is the running store downtown (All Kinds of Fast in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania), and I no longer have qualms about spending $100 on a pair of shoes. (Correction: I will only spend $100 on running shoes).
4. Running in circles around the track has become my favorite past time, especially when the mens soccer team is practicing. (It doesn't have to be soccer though! I'll watch football, lax ... if it's guys, I'm there!)
3. And going to the gym? That’s not a complete workout. Sorry cardio machines, you're no match for good, old-fashioned concrete and trees.
3.1 Neither is a 5K. They’re a great race for newbies and fundraisers, but, personally, they just get me warmed up! (But they usually have complementary bananas at the end, so they have something going for them!)
4. My favorite question to ask myself when a song comes on: Can I run to this?! (The answer is always yes because you can run to anything!)
5. It’s okay to have friends and family who don’t run! They make great cheerleaders when you decide to run races before the sun comes up! They also encourage you during your training and never fail to be waiting for you at the finish line.
6. And anyone who wears a Philly Half Marathon shirt is fair game to be my new best friend.
6.2 My running time has become my “me” time … so please don’t bother me or ask to run with me. If I have agreed to such madness, it must mean you're very special to me!
7. Morning runs are the best runs because you get to see the world before it wakes up.
8. The people who introduced me to running will forever have a special place in my heart and in my stride.
9. The mere fact that you run, makes you a runner. And all those miles you log? Yeah, they're impressive, but it's about more than that!
10. It's about perseverance, taking each stride with more confidence than the last.
11. It's about embracing the pain and finding the good in it all.
12. It's about doing the thing that you and others thought you couldn't do.
13. It's about giving it everything you've got for just one. More. Mile.
13.1 It's about smiling when you've crossed the finish line.
26.2 It's about looking forward to the miles to come ... and telling yourself you will get there someday!
26.2+ And when you can no longer feel your legs, run with your heart.
Happy Running!
