13 Thoughts That Run Through My Mind When I Can't Sleep

We have all had those nights, some more than others; it's midnight and you have an alarm set for 7 AM and you just can't fall asleep! You're eyes are tired, your body is exhausted, but your mind is racing at full speed.

If you're like me, those thoughts that hit your brain are just completely irrational and totally random; but, still powerful enough to keep you awake at night.

1. What was I thinking when I said that to my crush five years ago?

You know that time of the night when you start remembering all your embarrassing, awkward moments? Then, you dwell so much on it that it just ends up being completely morphed from what actually happened? This happens quite often during my sleepless nights.

2. OH! The actress I was thinking of three weeks ago was Jessica Biel!

Obviously, the middle of the night is the perfect time to remember the person's name that was on the tip of your tongue.... three weeks ago.

3. *Remembers an assignment is due the next day*

2 AM rolls around and that is when I just HAPPEN to remember my Statistics homework is due the next day. So do I do it then or wait til morning? Wait til the morning, of course. Why would I do it then even though I'm laying in bed, wide awake, doing nothing?

4. There's totally a person standing in my closet.

My closet door is halfway open. What's that dark figure? Oh my gosh, someone is in here with me. *Turns light on prepared for WWIII*...oh wait, it's just my jacket. Ha ha...

5. I hope heaven has endless ice cream.

Is heaven actually out there? What's it like? Will my dogs be there with me? What about my cat? Is there endless ice cream? Oh, in that case, I'm sold; I'll stop the swearing.

6. Maybe I should check my phone.

Because obviously all my friends are gonna text me at this time. Ohhh, maybe I should check twitter, too..

6. Only 4 hours, 27 minutes and 13 seconds until my alarm goes off.

*Looks at alarm, configures math in head*

Yep, I'll need a nap tomorrow.

7. If there's over 300 billion stars in the Milky Way alone, then how many stars are there in all the galaxies?

We're just a grain of sand in this Myrtle Beach world and that, that is what keeps me up at night,

8. Am I choosing the right path in life?

Am I really aiming for the right career? Should I have went for my childhood dream and been an actress/singer/model? I bet they don't study as much as me.

9. What if my insomnia is a symptom for a life threatening disease?

*Whips out phone, googles reasons for insomnia, finds out I have a incredibly rare disease that only happens in one in a trillion people and I will never EVER sleep again*

10. What if I bury my face in the pillow...

If I bury myself in this pillow, maybe I'll pass out from suffocation. Problem solved.

11. I need a plan in place in case I'm single when I'm 35.

It's always better to be safe.

12. *Sings* If you wanna be my lover... you gotta get with my frieeeeends....

Songs from when I was a kid get stuck in my head and I decide that the middle of the night is prime time for putting on a concert.

13. Sleeeepppp... sleep sleep sleep sleep PLEASE!

Just please, I will become a nun and give my whole life up for Jesus JUST TO SLEEP!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
