13 Things You Need To Thank Your Little Sister For

Little sisters are the greatest. Here's why.

Growing up as the oldest had its perks, but none compare to the joy of having a little sister. While many hours were spent arguing over who got to ride which bike or who actually owned those riding boots, countless more were invested in the laughter and memories that come from living with someone for almost 17 years.

I didn't realize just how much I needed my little sister until I got to college. But now, I've come to understand just how much my little sister did for me. Here are 13 things everyone should thank their little sister for.

1. Thanks for helping me understand our parents.

Sometimes, I could be irrational and get extremely frustrated with things our parents did. Thanks for calming me down and helping me to logically understand their point of view.

2. Thanks for doing my chores for me when I was overwhelmed or forgot.

Those chore fines would have added up much quicker if it weren't for you.

3. Thanks for letting me steal your clothes and shoes... even if I was three sizes bigger than you.

Nothing says love like letting me stretch out your clothes and shoes when I borrowed them. So thanks for letting me take your stuff (and only rolling your eyes sometimes).

4. Thanks for bringing me dinner when I had a late shift at work.

Seriously. Those late-night shifts where I forgot to pack a dinner for my break would have been significantly more unbearable if you hadn't come to my rescue multiple times.

5. Thanks for always bringing me a roll of toilet paper.

I always knew I never had to fear running out of toilet paper when you were around. All I had to do was shout at the top of my lungs, "I need some toilet paper" and you would come rushing in, arms loaded with rolls of the white stuff.

6. Thanks for listening to my rants...

Remember all those times I was angry with the world and just wanted to hide and sleep my high school away? Thanks for listening to all of my insanity.

7. ...And for talking me out of bad ideas.

Remember when I told you I was going to quit high school, move away from my friends, and live as a hermit for the rest of my life? Yeah. Thanks for telling me that was stupid and for reminding me why I love life and the people in it.

8. Thanks for letting me hang out with your friends and crash your parties.

I can't even begin to count the amount of times that I've crashed your hangouts... and you've been okay with it. Thanks for always including me... even when I played Beyonce's Single Ladies super loud and embarrassed you in front of your friends.

9. Thanks for always being ready for a spontaneous taco date.

Sometimes, a girl just needs to drive down to the gas station taco stand at 11 o'clock at night. Thanks for not making me go alone and for laughing along the way.

10. On those taco trips, thanks for always choosing solid music to jam to on the way.

Whatever the mood, you always picked the perfect song. Taco runs just wouldn't be as fantastic without your DJ skills.

11. Thanks for helping me get through holiday celebrations.

We all know that family get-togethers are nothing short of hectic. Thanks for being sane -- and more importantly -- keeping me sane.

12. Thanks for loving me through my crazy emotions.

When life got the best of me, you never left. Thanks for sticking by my side through thick and thin.

13. Lastly, thanks for being my best friend.

You are my best friend. Thanks for knowing me better than anyone else, living through my awkward junior high years and for always being there for me. I wouldn't be who I am today without you. You da real MVP, and I can't wait to see you when I get home.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
