The time of year is almost upon us to sip on hot cocoa by the fire, shop until we drop, listen to festive music on repeat, and most importantly – WATCH HOLIDAY MOVIES!!!!! When deciding what movie to watch first, I have found that a similar thought pattern emerges as I weigh the pros and cons of various holiday movie options. I could watch Love Actually - an incredible film, but the storyline makes me depressed due to the number of failing relationships it contains. I could watch Nightmare Before Christmas, but I am not in the mood for spooky creatures. Hmmm….. what movie never fails me? Well that’s an easy question to answer – ELF!

Here are 13 reasons why Elf is quite possibly the best holiday movie ever made.

1. Buddy’s positivity is contagious

2. It is sure to get you into the Christmas spirit

3. It contains a little romance



4. Buddy accidentally gets drunk and then proceeds to start a dance party in a mailroom.


5. Even on its own, the escalator scene makes the movie worth a watch



6. It makes you realize your decorating skills are mediocre at best


7. Buddy has taught you the importance of doing what you want to do, even if it may make you look a bit foolish



8. You learn what the four main food groups actually are


9. Zooey Deschanel can SING! Who knew??!!


10. It will make you forever question the way you eat your spaghetti

11. While Buddy is in an elevator he does the one thing we have all secretly wanted to do


12. Buddy proves to us why you should never give up



13. Most importantly, it capitalizes on the importance of coming together and spreading holiday cheer!
