I've been feeling a little bit homesick lately and thought that this article needs to happen. I love Buffalo more than I thought ever since I left for college. If you are an hour away like me or a long way away from home, just know we are all in the same boat. Even if you currently live in Buffalo, please don't take it for granted. I did when I was there and I shouldn't have. Buffalo holds a special place in my heart now more than ever.
I absolutely love the city where I'm from and now I don't see me being anywhere else but home.
1. THE FOOD
OMG!!! The food is sooooo good in Buffalo I can't even stand it. There are so many restaurants and bakeries that were established in Buffalo that you can't find anywhere else. Ya got ya Mooney's, Paula's Donuts, Grover's, Ted's etc.. I love going home and just eating until I possibly can't anymore. Don't argue with a Buffalonian about our pizza because we got pretty damn good pizza. Oh and duh, THE WINGS!!!!!!
2. THE ATMOSPHERE
We are the "City of Good Neighbors" no matter what anyone else thinks. We are always welcoming and hope everyone who visits has a great time. You will NEVER be bored of Buffalo.
3. SPORTS TEAMS
We may not have the greatest sports teams out there, but we have the by far the best TAILGATING. We come together as a big family and support our sports teams the best to our ability!!! GO BILLS :)
4. THE FESTIVALS
OH LORD. Buffalo and their festivals have been increasing over time and I LOVE IT. We have our Dyngus Day Parade, St. Patricks Day Parade, Polish Festival, Wing Fest, Taste Of Buffalo, and soooooo many more!! again, we all come together as a huge family and have a great time!
5. THE ERIE COUNTY FAIR
The Erie County Fair is by far my favorite event in Buffalo. It happens once a year in August lasting about 3 weeks with soooo many exciting things to do! The fried food, the Ferris wheel, the animals, the tractor pull, etc. If you goooo... get FRIED OREOS and RIBBON FRIES!!!!!!!
6. DARIEN LAKE CONCERTS
They are so much fun and the perfect summer activity! A large amount of famous artists come every summer to perform at Darien Lake! I love going to country concerts (my fave) and just being there with friends. Those are some of the best nights of my life and nights I will never forget. A lot of people hate the lawn section, but it's my personal favorite.
7. CANALSIDE/DOWNTOWN
Downtown, Buffalo/ Canalside were completely run down before but within the last few years, it has been one of the nicest places in Buffalo NY. I love going ice skating in the winter, and exploring in the summer. It makes me appreciate where I am from.
8. ALTONS
This had to be its own separate thing because Alton's is incredible. I would hope every Buffalonian loves Alton's as much as I do. I LOVE their pancakes and chicken souvlaki salad oh my goodness.
9. SUMMER ACTIVITIES
I love that there are so many things to do in Buffalo in the summer. My favorite would have to be Food Truck Tuesdays in Larkin Square. Being with friends and family in the summer time is what I look forward to and spending my summers in Buffalo are the BEST.
10. WEATHER
Half the year is winter, half the year is hot and it's the perfect combination. The weather in Buffalo can be insanely bipolar but that's what makes it Buffalo weather. Even though I can't stand the cold, I wouldn't change a thing.
11. THE MALLS
There are so many malls in Buffalo and just about any store you can imagine is in those malls. I love living so close to the Galleria Mall because I would always go there on rainy days with my friends!
12. WEGMANS
I know there are Wegmans stores in other places besides Buffalo, but it is my absolutely favorite grocery store. My mom and I literally go there every time I come home. It's literally like my second home. I know where everything is and I think I love it so much because it's what my mom and I do together.
13. MY WHOLE LIFE IS THERE
From being born there, to growing up there, and eventually living there on my own with my family, Buffalo holds so many memories that I couldn't just give up. Buffalo means the world to me because everyone I love the most lives there. I left for a while and I realize that I need to be back there. I used to hate to admit this, but it's my favorite place to be.
