Wondering what you can do with your significant other on or around campus? Whether they are a student, Harrisonburg local, or a long distance lover in town for the weekend, these fun date ideas are bound to leave them with a smile!
1. Take them on a walk around campus
OK, so maybe this seems a bit lame, but this can be fun! If they aren't familiar with campus, this is the perfect opportunity to show them around. If you both have attended JMU for some time now, show each other some of your favorite places on campus.
2. See a movie at Grafton Stovall Theatre
Whether it's a new movie or an old classic, head over to Grafton to see a movie. Sometimes getting into town to go to the movies can be a burden, especially for freshmen or students without cars on campus. This on-campus location is a great alternative.
3. Head down to TDU for a game night
Who doesn't love a great game of pool or board games. Loser buys the winner Auntie Anne's!
4. See a show at the planetarium
It's not at all anything like an astronomy lecture. Shows here are interesting and engaging!
5. Go to UREC or on an outing
You don't have to workout. You can bring your date to the pool, go rock climbing, or even sign up for an outing. Grab some smoothies, too, while you're at it!
5. Get tickets to a sporting event
Not only are the football games a lot of fun, even if you don't necessarily like football, but JMU has a ton of other sports to watch! Don't forget about our other teams like basketball, soccer, and volleyball!
6. Have a picnic on the quad
Bring your own food or make a pitstop at Dukes or Top Dog. Either way, it's hard not to enjoy the gorgeous view while chowing down.
7. Head over to Skyline Drive
Not only can you check out some of the best views in Virginia, but why not stop and grab a milkshake at Cookout for the trip?
8. Go downtown
Harrisonburg has a great business district within walking distance from campus. Have a burger at Billy Jacks, see live music at The Golden Pony, or visit the cats at Cat's Cradle.
9. Visit the caverns
This area is full of cool caverns to explore. If you're really craving an adventure, check out the Luray Caverns and go on their ropes course!
10. Take a trip to Staunton
This historic town is full of fun things to do like shop or see a show at the American Shakespeare Center.
11. See a show at Forbes
The theater department puts on great shows right on campus. Whether you're in the mood for a classic, a comedy, or even an emotional rollercoaster of a show, you're bound to find something going on.
12. Stargaze on the quad

13. Go to the puppy farm
Who doesn't want some puppy lovin'? Call Gap View Ranch and Kennel to schedule an appointment to play with the adorable Golden Retriever puppies they have!
