1. People start getting the Flu
You tell all your friends with the flu to stay away. You have 5 tests next week and can't get sick.
2. You start feeling gross
You start to feel something coming on and dread what's to come.
3. You're worst fear is realized
You go to the health center and the flu test was positive. You get lots of meds and are sent home with a face mask.
4. You accept your fate
There's a stage where you finally accept you have it and use it to your advantage to stay in bed and catch up on Netflix. You're excused from classes, so why not?
5. You distance yourself from others
You hate everyone who got you sick and don't want anyone else to get sick, so you distance yourself from all other humans.
6. You sleep... A LOT
Taking frequent naps for 10 hours at a time is very common and you constantly feel like you've been run over by a bus.
7. You miss out on things
Some things you miss are good (i.e. class, tests, quizzes). But, you end up missing time with friends and fun stuff too.
8. You go through a delusional phase
When you're sick of being sick, you get cabin fever and all you want to do is get out of your room and feel better.
9. You start to feel a little better
Some relief comes when you start coughing less and you're sleeping habits are slightly more normal.
10. You pray you are finally through with it
All your friends are better and you want to join them.
11. You bounce back
You feel better than ever and start leaving your room again.
12. You've defeated the flu
HOORAY! You are finally over the flu. It sucks, but unfortunately, getting sick is a big and unavoidable part of college. Next year, listen to your mom when she tells you to get your flu shot.
