Congrats, it's Winter Break! Most college students are back in their hometown for over month, and with this comes some spare time back home. So, let's look at a few things to do while you're back in your hometown:

1. Lay down in bed and don't exit your room for a week!

Sure, your family and friends are excited your back and want to hear about college, but let's be real. You're tired and lazy.

2. Binge watch Netflix

What else are you going to do that entire week that you're staying in bed? Watch all of 30 Rock for the 15th time!

3. Tell a million people how college is going

The #1 question of any time you're home: "How's college?" By the time break is over, you'll have your answer memorized. It may be a bit irritating, but it's a small price to pay for people caring about your life.

4. Watch a movie with your family

It may take 45 minutes for everyone to decide on a movie, but gosh darn it you all are gonna watch something! Eventually, you will end up watching Elf.

5. Visit your old high school

Just kidding. Don't do that. You dont need the horror flashbacks.

6. Hang out with your friends

You've missed them sooooooooooo much, and now you finally have time to just hang out. I mean, you don't have any money to do anything, but still!

7. Drive around town

Just take a trip down memory lane. Why not? You don't have much else to do.

8. Get a job?

You really could use the money. Like, really. Maybe you could Google what places are hiring? Or go back to where you worked over the summer? Will anyone even hire you for, like, 3 weeks? Oh well, you'll get around to it eventually. You really, really, really need money. Eh, eventually. Maybe.

9. Christmas stuff!

Go to the really nice part of town and check out Christmas lights! Wear an ugly Christmas sweater to a Christmas party! Go Christmas shopping downtown! Do so much stuff for Christmas that you puke candy canes! Get into the holiday spirit!

10. Remember everything you don't like about your town

See someone you dislike at Walmart and hide in another aisle. Hear some cringey political conversations. Get irritated at everyone's driving. There are always things about home towns that irk you to no end.

11. Remember everything you do like about your town

Go have coffee or tea with your favorite teacher or coach. Have a home cooked meal with your family. Laugh at lunch with your friends. Exchange gifts. Shiver in the cold. Go to your favourite local restaurant. Sleep in till noon. Maybe visit your high school after all. Just kidding, you still shouldn't do that. Decorate your family's Christmas tree.

There's plenty of good and bad back at home, just like at college. The only thing that you really should do is try to enjoy it all no matter what. Some of us may love everything about being home, and some may be miserable. Either way, just stick through it. Have a great Winter Break and remember, no matter what, do not go back to visit your high school.

Happy Holidays!!!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
