We've finally finished the first semester of the year and now it's time to go home, relax, and not worry about school for three weeks. It's always nice to come home to cabinets full of food, clean bathrooms, your queen sized bed, and seeing how your hometown has changed since you were last there. Winter break is upon us, but after a while, you start to miss being at school. Here are twelve things you miss about college when you return home for Winter Break.

1. Being able to go to sleep and wake up at unreasonable times.

At school, no one is going to judge you if you go to sleep at 3 a.m. or wake up past noon every day.

2. Having your friends within walking distance.

At school, your friends are typically just down the hall or live close by. Now that you're home, time to get used to driving again!

3. Eating whatever, whenever you want without judgement.

Yes, there's an excess of delicious food at home compared to at school, but be ready to face the judgmental looks from your family when they see you eating your sixth meal of the day.

4. Sleeping wherever.

College = unlimited sleepovers any time you want and anywhere. Say goodbye to that for three weeks!

5. The abundance and availability of parties.

The parties at home may not be as lit as the parties in college, but it'll feel just like your high school days.

6. Ordering food to be delivered past midnight.

It’s doubtful that restaurants in your hometown do late night deliveries. Back to late night Taco Bell or Cookout runs!

7. Uber drivers.

Maybe your hometown has them, but for some of us, Uber isn’t as easily available where we live or they cost more.

8. An allowance.

At school, your parents most likely give you some money with no questions asked because you probably need it for "school stuff" (*cough cough* when you actually spend it all on food). At home, they're probably not as lenient.

9. Doing things at school that you can't do at home.

You know what I mean. Wink wink.

10. Always having something to do.

Even if you're content with lying in bed watching Netflix, at least you know there's bound to be something always going on somewhere around campus, even if you don't always take advantage of those opportunities.

11. Being able to walk everywhere.

If you live on campus, everywhere you need to go is basically just a walk away. You don't necessarily need a car for everywhere you need to go.

12. Your sweet independence.

Coming back home = back to having a curfew, doing chores, and keeping your room clean.

So for the meantime, enjoy your Winter Break! Next time you know, you'll be back at school missing being home.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
