Summer! A time of ample time and zero money, the struggle is real. Here is a list of free or inexpensive things to do in Minneapolis and St. Paul!
1. Free Thursdays at the Walker Art Center
The Walker Art Center is a contemporary art center in the Loring Park area. It has some really great pieces in it and I think that it has something in it for everyone.
2. Check out the Minneapolis Institute of Art
This is without a doubt one of my favorite things to go to in Minnesota. Like, of all time. Unfortunately, it is closed on Mondays ... but it is totally free!
3. Go to Lake Calhoun (now called Nokomis)
This is the land of 10,000 lakes ... go to one. It is free! Take some friends, swim, read, go make some memories. Netflix will wait for you.
4. Hit Minnehaha Falls
Easily one of Minneapolis's best attractions. Plus there are trails you can walk. It sure sounds like a good weekend afternoon to me.
5. Movies and music in the park
Movies and music are great, but free movies and music is even better! Here's the list for movies. Here's the list for music.
6. Check out a book
Maybe check out that book that you've been putting off for a while. Or get the book that your friend suggested. There are endless possibilities. You could bring this to the one of the beaches. Then you would be doing a bunch of free things at once. Wow. Look at you.
7. Go to Como Park Zoo
See cool animals. Maybe get to feed something exotic. While you are there you could go to the Marjorie McNeely Conservation.
8. Visit our State Capitol
Go learn about the states rich political history. Plus, it is absolutely gorgeous.
9. Go see the St. Paul Cathedral
While you are seeing the capitol, you could pop on by the Cathedral to gaze upon its architecture.
10. Spend Sunday at the Bell Museum of Natural History
Need a little air conditioning fun? Well you should hit here. It is free on Sundays, so that's super cool. There are a lot of dioramas and who doesn't love dioramas?
11. Go see more art at the Weisman
If you couldn't tell, I love art. The Weisman is is more of an abstract art museum, and who doesn't want more of that?
So there we have it! Some super awesome things to do this summer. Think of all the photo opportunities. Are you looking for somewhere inexpensive and really good to eat afterward? Look no further! Click the link here for a list of places!
