11 Ways To Turn Your Bad Day Around
StokesMcNutt

Feeling down? Going through a breakup? Failed an exam? Burnt your mouth on your "too hot" coffee this morning? I'm sorry, but it will be okay. How about being thankful to have money to buy you this hot coffee? We always worry about the smallest things but don't realize how lucky we actually are. Sure we all have horrible days, and you're allowed to feel sorry for yourself. But do you know what will make you feel even better? Being positive. Take time out of your shitty day and think of at least 1 positive thing that has happened since you woke up, even if that positive thing is the fact that you did wake up alive and well. Thinking positive will increase your mood substantially, also there are numerous other things to help turn your day around.

1. Eat a good meal

Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. Even if it involves you waking up 10 minutes earlier, fill you belly with some big pancakes or a bowl of fruit. I promise, it makes a world of difference.

2. Pet a dog/look at a picture of a cute animal

This can go without explanation or reason.

3. Call up an old friend

You guys haven't talked in a while? Give them a call! I'm sure they're missing you too and you can reminisce about all of the crazy things you did in high school or college. This is sure to boost your mood.

4. Listen to upbeat, happy music

Turn off your sad teen angst music and try something with a happier beat and nicer lyrics, it may not be "your style" but it's definitely better than sulking to lyrics that make you want to lock yourself in your room all day.

5. Look good, feel good

Dress nicely, do your hair and makeup and I can guarantee you will feel better and more confident about yourself. Don't let them know you're having a bad day, make this bad day your bitch. Spilled your coffee? At least my eyeliner is winged to perfection. No one can touch you when you're feeling yourself. Take a selfie to document it!

6. Do a good deed

If you're having a bad day, help make someone else's better. Pay it forward, smile at someone, even a hello...seeing someone else be happy will make boost your mood, even a little bit.

7. Color

Art therapy helps! Grab an old coloring book, go buy one, or sit down with your little one and color. This way you can escape your thoughts and relax while spending time with your baby.

8. Take a bath

There is no better feeling than just laying in a hot bath surrounded by bubbles after a long, stressful day.

9. Work out

If you're into the whole "working out" thing, lifting weights or doing some cardio will help put you in a better mood.

10. Snugs and Kisses

You should always be able to count on your significant other or your partner to help turn a bad day into a good one. Snuggle up to your honey and let your bad day melt away.

11. SING

Sing your freaking heart out! Blast some T-Swizzle or Alanis Morissette and belt it as loud as you can! Act a fool, don't be shy!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
