11 Thoughts Had When Running Into High School Classmates After Graduation

We've all encountered that moment. Whether it was undeniably awkward, in some cases dreaded or a welcomed catch-up, there is no doubt the feelings that come when you run into one of your old high school classmates are on the stronger end of the scale. While it would be nice to pretend that once we graduated we would never run into those unwanted souls again, the world is all too small to allow that to happen. Here are a few thoughts that are bound to cross your mind when running into those peers from the past.

1. "Who are you?"

We've all had this moment whether we like to admit it or not. If we weren't close with them in high school, chances are they have long left our minds. I've had one too many encounters where I've had to search my brain to remind myself that this person used to be someone I once saw daily.

2. "Why is this person saying 'hi' to me?"

The worst case scenario when not remembering someone from high school. As mentioned above, if you weren't close before chances are they have been erased from your mind. Cue the scrambled thoughts in your brain as you ask yourself, "How do they know my name?"

3. "Please don't see me. Please."

For those people who have left a special mark on our hearts, we can't help but pray they don't notice us hiding behind a rack of clothes.

4. "No, we should not hang out sometime."

I'll be honest when I say I have no interest in reconnecting with anyone from my high school years.

5. "What happened to you?"

The pretty girls went downhill and the scholars you thought had it all together have hit rock bottom. Nothing stays the same forever.

6. "I wonder if he's single."

I mean, exceptions can be made to the reconnecting-with-people-from-high-school rule.

7. "Please tell me that is not a ring on her finger."

Since when were people my age getting engaged and married?!

8. "It was actually refreshing to see them."

On the rare occasion it can actually be a nice conversation when you run into an old classmate.

9. "We used to be in the same friend group."

Key words "used to be." As in you haven't spoken in a few years and this is awkward.

10. "What can I say? What's something else I can add to fill the silence?"

The conversation just doesn't flow with some people.

11. "Are high school reunions still a thing?"

If so, could they not take place when I'm at work? Thanks in advance, universe.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
