Flat Out Events

Sometimes I find myself obsessed with songs. I listen to them over and over again for days on end. They become my go-to car song. These are ten songs that are constantly in my mind. These are the songs you'll catch me singing to myself when I'm cooking or cleaning or showering. These are the songs I crank up loud whenever they're on.

In my list, you will find a wide variety of music. Some from my favorite bands and some that those of you are know me may be surprised by. This music isn't all new by any means. You'll find some older songs. You'll find songs from bands you've never heard. Overall, give each song a chance before you judge my list.

1. "Dancing With A Wolf" - All Time Low

Dancing With A Wolf is from All time Low's album Future Hearts. Future Hearts was released on April 3, 2015. Dancing With A Wolf was never released as a single from this CD. I found it accidentally when my iPod was playing on shuffle in my car. The song has a catchy beat with satisfying lyrics.

2. "Hospital" - The Used

Hospital by The Used is a from their album Lies For The Liars. This album was first released May 22, 2007. Though I bought the CD when it first came out I really only knew two songs from it for the longest time. About a year ago, I first found Hospital on Pandora radio. I knew I had the CD and I quickly put it onto my iPod so that I wouldn't forget how much I liked it.

3. "Fourth of July" - Fall Out Boy

Fourth of July has quickly become my favorite Fall Out Boy song. This was another example of not giving a CD my full attention and missing a really great song. Whenever this song comes on I belt out the words along side Patrick Stump. Granted, he usually sounds a 100x better than I do and I usually look like an idiot in my car, but I don't care. This song comes from their CD American Beauty/ American Psycho which was released January 16th, 2015.

4. "Down" - Ghost Town

Down by Ghost Town did not start off as my favorite song from the band's album Evolution which was released November 6th, 2015. It wasn't the song I played on repeat for days after I bought the CD. Yet here I am now convincing all of you how amazing of a song this is. It's hard-hitting and it talks about relationships. We all need a song like that sometimes. Not to mention this song is majorly catchy!

5. "Heavy Gloom" - The Story So Far

Heavy Gloom by The Story So Far is my go-to acapella song(my previous roommate and best friend can confirm this). I would channel my inner Parker Cannon and sing as loud as I could. there's something about this band that really gets to me. I love their music and was on a major TSSF binge for a long time when I first started dating my boyfriend who introduced me to the band. Heavy Gloom is from the band's self-titled album which was released May 19th, 2015.

6. "Fire" - PVRIS

Fire by PVRIS crept into my life all of sudden. It was in my recommended playlist on Spotify. I had seen the band live in concert with Pierce The Veil and Sleeping With Sirens, but hadn't really listened to them that much. I loved the song right off. Lynn Gunn has a powerful voice and it makes this song so much better. Fire comes from the band's debut album White Noise which was released in November of 2014.

7. "Left Alone" - Sleeping With Sirens

Left Alone is hands-down my favorite song from Sleeping With Siren's album Madness. When this CD was first released March 13th, 2015 I was iffy about it. I liked a few songs, but there were others I wasn't a fan of. I didn't give the CD much attention. When I first heard Left Alone earlier this year I regretted my decision to not give this CD a better chance. Left Alone is an amazing song that everyone should listen to.

8. "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" - Adele

Adele is not an artist I listen to on a regular basis or even a semi-regular basis. However, obne of my clients loves this song and because of that it means I was forced to listen to this song on repeat for hours on end. This is perhaps what one could consider a guilty pleasure. It didn't take me long to memorize the lyrics and I have been caught more than once singing it and dancing to it in my apartment when my boyfriend comes home from work.

9. "Missing You" - Set It Off

Missing You by Set It Off may seem like a strange song to have constantly stuck in your head as it's slow, sad and not exactly a catchy beat song. However, this is my favorite song by my favorite band and therefore it is always in my mind somewhere. I really hate using unofficial videos, but this song was not a single and the band doesn't have it on their VEVO account. Missing You was from their EP Horrible Kids.

10. "Same Sea" - Lights

I have loved Lights for a long time. I first heard Same Sea when I saw Lights in concert in 2014. It soon become my favorite song by her and to this day it is still always one of my go-to songs when I need to sing it out. This is a song about love and how nothing can tear people apart. Same Sea is from the album Little Machines which was released September 23, 2014.

11. "Throne" - Bring Me The Horizon

The final song on my list is Throne by Bring Me The Horizon. This song is from the band's album That's The Spirit. This song is powerful and it really encourages people to keep working no matter what might be put in their way. This is a song I can enjoy with a lot of my friends and even my boyfriend. This is the perfect car song when driving long distances cause it tells you to keep on moving!

All of the musicians I have put here today are ones that I really enjoy as a whole. I encourage everyone to enjoy more of their music than what I have put here today. Maybe someday one of their songs will be stuck in your head.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
