11 Songs To Boost Your Mood
Heaven Beside Me

I think that music can determine your mood. It has the power to lift you up and drag you down. While I am a master at making playlists fit for rainy days, I attempted to make one that could be used on a sunny day. I hope these songs put a smile on your face or at least brighten your day just a little.

1. "Wild Things" by Alessia Cara

I don’t know if it's because ABC family (or rather, "Freeform") used this in one of their commercials, but "Wild Things" has been stuck in my head for days. It’s super catchy and really just makes you want to dance.

2. "All Those Pretty Lights" by Andrew Belle

This song makes you feel like you are living in a daydream. It paints a picture of a hopeful, picturesque place that inspires you to do something. Andrew Belle's songs always manage to put a smile on my face.

3. "My Shot" written by Lin-Manual Miranda and performed by the "Hamilton" Cast

"My Shot" is a song for when you need some patriotic inspiration and just need to get things done, although you could totally just listen for the genius that is Lin-Manuel Miranda. This song should be listened to when you want to make some history (or just for when you're hitting the gym -- whichever you prefer).

4. "Take A Walk" by Passion Pit

This sums up exactly how you feel when you need a break from life. Does it seem like everything has gone wrong lately? After listening to this song, you will feel ready to take on anything that life throws at you.

5. "Get Me Golden" by Terraplane Sun

Terraplane Sun will remind you that everything will be OK in life. When I listen to "Get Me Golden," I daydream about a carefree drive down a sunny highway. It also reminds me of "Teen Wolf" (which is where I heard it), which makes me think of Dylan O’Brien, which also makes me happy.

6. "We’re #1" by The World Record

Basically, the title says it all. Best listened to on a day when you just need reassurance that you are awesome.

7. "Geronimo" by Sheppard

Whether it be a project or just plain life, "Geronimo" will give you the motivation you need. This song could also work very well as a theme for the Eleventh Doctor.

8. "My Body" by Young the Giants

Probably one of the most perfect songs to run to, "My Body" has a great beat, has extremely relevant lyrics, and is just very catchy. Play this song and get ready to want to run, dance, or just push yourself further.

9. "Dance Apocalyptic" by Janelle Monáe

Janelle Monáe’s music literally can’t not make you happy. You can just feel her bubbly personality through the speakers. It also has a sort of old-timey vibe that you don’t hear very often but probably should.

10. "Sugar" by Maroon 5

Any playlist of mine would not be complete without a Maroon 5 song. It may only be because of the music video, but this song just makes me happy. Maroon 5 in general makes me happy.

11. "Alright" by Supergrass

I'm not sure if it's the connection to "Clueless" or if it's just because of its upbeat rhythm, but this song always puts me in a good mood. The title reminds you that everything is alright -- or is going to be alright.

If you want to listen to any of these eleven great songs, look no further! Here's my Spotify playlist. Please enjoy!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
