11 Signs You Were A Gymnast
Empire Gymnastics and Fitness, Inc.

I started gymnastics at the age of one in my moms gymnastics facility. I continued in gymnastics till about my junior year of high school. I was just okay at gymnastics, never great. Each day I definitely had my ups and downs in the sport of gymnastics. I remember in my senior year of high school, I tried to do tumbling again, and I just remember everything being SO SORE. My mom always says "If you don't use it, you loose it", and that is so true. Since not being in gymnastics, I have actually enjoyed teaching gymnastics more. Over the summer, I help teach with my mom at her gym. I can honestly never get away from gymnastics, and I would never want to. I've been apart of gymnastics since I was one years old, and at the age of nineteen, I occasionally help teach gymnastics, go to the different out of town gymnastics meets with my mom, and I always watch gymnastics on TV. Gymnastics will never leave me, and I'm okay with that.

Here's 11 signs that show you were involved in gymnastics at some point in your life...

1.When you tell people you did gymnastics, and they immediately ask you if you can do a flip..

Lol nope..

2.You sit on the floor in really weird positions that most people can’t even do. And, you don’t even realize it.

3.People always ask if you have seen “Stick It”

Ohhh yes I have. It's one of my favorite movies!

4.You still have most of your leotards

I have leotards still from gymnastics and dance….

5.Despite how much you disliked it sometimes, if you have a son or daughter, he or she will definitely do gymnastics.

6.You think about how fit (sort of lol) you used to be and get nostalgic for the good old days. And then, you continue sitting on the couch eating potato chips.

This gif describes my current life situation lol

7.Every time gymnastics is on TV, you watch it religiously.

8.When someone tells you cheerleading is like gymnastics, you question why you’re talking to this person at all.

I used to be a cheerleader back in the day, and the only similarity between cheerleading and gymnastics is the tumbling. Otherwise, they are two TOTALLY DIFFERENT things.

9.You often find yourself pointing your toes without realizing it.

I sometimes even find myself pointing my toes while I’m asleep…it is crazy.

10.When you try to explain a skill to a non-gymnast friend, they stare blankly at you until you end up pulling out your computer to find it on YouTube, because it is just too impossible to describe.

Any skill that Simone Biles does is impossible to describe, let's be honest.

11.If you go into a gymnastics facility, you feel like you have to touch EVERYTHING.

Look at all of the equipment.... how can you not want to swing on the bars, walk on the beam, or jump on the trampoline?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
