11 Types Of Signs I Saw At The Women's March

This weekend, I had the opportunity to go to the Women’s March in Philadelphia.

This experience was unlike any I’ve ever had before. I went with a group of fantastic girls and it was so great to see how many people turned out. There were people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds there to support women’s rights and it was so great to see how many people felt passionate about the cause.

One of the best parts of the march was for sure the signs. It was so cool to see what everyone came up with, so below, see some of my favorites.

1. Political

Believe me, there are plenty of pictures I could have used for this one, but let’s all admire how perfect that Twitter bird is

2. Intelligence

Girls can do anything boys can do and don’t you forget it. Plenty of girls used their signs as a way to promote just how smart girls can be.

3. Optimistic

These are the signs that you read and immediately feel empowered and like you could take on the world.

4. Artistic

These are the signs that lower your self-confidence, you know? Like you just look at it and it has all these pretty colors and your sign gets too close to it and you can’t help but think, damn.

5. Rhyming

Who doesn’t love Dr. Seuss? No better person to model your rhyming sign after.

6. Song-inspired

Some people are just so creative… I loved this song in fifth grade because my favorite American Idol contestant sang it. I screeched when I saw this one.

7. Word Play

My roommate is also an engineer so shout out to her and all the other female engineers out there. I seriously applaud you guys.

8. Harry Potter

Who doesn’t love Harry Potter?? And if there’s one person I’ve always wanted to be it’s Hermione Granger.

9. All-encompassing

These signs just hit everything at once. Anything a person could be upset about is represented on this one sign.

10. Poetic

Some of the signs are just too beautifully written. They have these beautiful long quotes on them that just give you chills to read about.

11. Family

Let’s be honest, everything is better when you do it as a family. These families sure did come ready to make a statement.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
