A lot of times, people feel the need to be in a relationship because their friends and family are all in relationships. But listen up, people, you shouldn’t want a relationship just to say you have one. Therefore, it is very important to know why being single is also just as important as finding someone to be in a relationship with. Keep your head up, because while everyone around you are in relationships, here are eleven reasons why it’s important to be single to keep you sane in this crazy world we call life
1. Do what you want.
Single means doing what you want, when you want. There is no one to check in with about where you are and who you’re with.
2. Discover new things about yourself.
There are plenty of hobbies or activities to try and learn more about yourself, but that you were never able to do being tied down. There are many ways being single allows you to discover things you like and dislike that you may have never known before.
3. Date around.
Being single means that you aren’t tied to anyone or anything, which means you can say yes to anyone that asks you on a date. The best part of dating is that you get to meet new people all the time and discover things that you like and dislike in a partner all while having fun.
4. Have a girls/guys night.
When you’re single there is more time to go out with your friends and have fun without feeling guilty about things you may have done or said. It is also a way to build better and stronger friendships that you know will last a lifetime.
5. Start a new hobby.
Everyone always has something they put off, due to the mere fact that they are too busy with everything else in their life. Single equals trying that cooking class, doing yoga, or even learning a new language.
6. Happiness.
Being in a relationship doesn’t mean you are never happy, but being single means that you can be happy whether alone or with someone else. Being happy alone is a sure fire way to show the strength in oneself.
7. Save money.
Relationships equal money. There are anniversaries, holidays, birthdays, and just because moments. Therefore, hundreds of dollars are spent on dinners, presents, and everything else in the world. But being single means you can save your money for something you want, something you want to do, or even just putting that money in the bank.
8. Stay healthy.
Sometimes when people are in relationships, they lose the drive to exercise or eat healthy because they already have a significant other. Being single means more exercise and healthier foods to boost that confidence within yourself!
9. Less stressed.
Think about it? Life by itself is stressful enough, but when you’re in a relationship there are fights, disagreements, and constant reminders of things the other isn’t or should be doing. When you’re single you can focus on yourself, school, work, etc.
10. More productive.
Ever hear of Netflix and Chill? That’s what our generation has come to, sitting around and binge watching Netflix together. When you’re single that homework assignment or presentation for work is completed in no time because no one is holding you back.
11. Love yourself.
The most important thing to remember is that in order to love someone else, you have to love yourself first. Gain the confidence to know who you are and what you want.
