The apocalypse has arrived! For three days humans look left and right, paranoia running through their system. Why? Because their playing the ultimate game of tag, Humans vs Zombies! A select number people are original zombies from the beginning, spreading the curse around campus. One by one, humans move their bandannas from their arms to their heads, creating them into zombies. Socks and armbands combined with fear and anxiety, humans fight til the end to stay alive. Humans vs Zombies is not only an amazing game, but is a community on campus. Sound like fun? Here are some reasons you should join in.
1. It gives you a break from reality
With the game during the middle of the semester, there is no need to worry about having to study for midterms or finals. You become so engrossed in the game that going to class isn't a basic walk, it is trying to survive.
2. Easy access to the game
The Humans vs Zombies game has their own website that is organized to list all of the players, their status in the game, and how long the zombies need to feed. This is very convenient for everyone: the humans know who to run from, both groups know when the zombies need to feed next, and the zombies know who to hunt.
3. Involvement is optional
You can decide how much you are involved in the game. Miss a mission? No problem. The moderators understand that players have other things going on besides the game. It's your decision if you want to take an easy route in the game or take as many risks as possible.
4. No winners or losers
Are you a sore loser? Well, you don't have to wallow in pity for long! Yes, it initially sucks to be turned from a human to a zombie. But, most people get over it in about an hour, realizing that there are pros and cons to both roles. The ultimate goal of this game is to turn everyone into zombies, making the game be more about fun.
5. It helps you learn the ins and outs of campus
No matter if your campus is big or small, this game aids you in learning where buildings are located and how many exits they have. I definitely recommend this game for transfer students and freshman to help learning how their campus is structured.
6. Creates connections
Playing Humans vs Zombies allows you to meet new people on campus. If you're playing with people you already know, your friendships grow stronger throughout the game.
7. Focusing on your surroundings
To develop plans on how to capture humans or dodge zombies, Humans vs Zombies allows you to focus on your surrounds. After the game, you realize how much more interactive with the environment near you.
8. Exercise
Run humans, run! Even though the humans are the ones trying to live, it's usually the zombies who do the most running in trapping humans. In my last day of the game as a zombie, I ran 8 miles up and down the hills of my campus. It may make you sore or out of breath the next day, but this game is worth it.
9. Helps create plans
Humans vs Zombies has made me able to create more sufficient plans. Planning is a key part of this game. If you don't create plans in advance, then it is harder for you to succeed in feeding on humans or escaping from zombies.
10. Communication
Creating connections is a plus to this game. But, talking to other players helps in missions and raiding humans. Using walkie talkie apps, Facebook groups, and messengers are extremely useful.
11. It's always fun
No matter what you're doing in the game or who you are with, it is always fun! Both humans and zombies enjoy what they're doing.
I recommend this game to everyone! It's so fun to play and helps you learn things that are useful in life. Humans vs Zombies becomes a way of life for the players and once it stops, you want to keep playing. Personally, I will play Humans vs Zombies for all of the remaining semesters that I am at college.
