As most of us know, Fall is always one of the biggest seasons for new music to be released. It is also the time of year where so many artists are on tour to the point where I feel like there's a concert I want to go to every weekend. What I've noticed a lot about this year specifically is how quite a few standout artists that haven't released anything in the past few years are coming out with new records, and making a big comeback. Here is the list of eleven comeback albums I compiled in no order, be sure to check them out!
1. Jimmy Eat World - Integrity Blues
Jimmy Eat World is most known for their huge classic rock hit, "The Middle," that came out in 2001. They have released a few albums since then that haven't sparked nearly as much attention. However, "Integrity Blues" was just released October 21st and is already receiving many great reviews. If you're looking for a chilled-out rock/alternative album that will put you in a better mood, this is one for you to listen to. My favorite song on it is the first track, "You With Me."
2. JoJo - Mad Love
JoJo took quite the hiatus with not releasing any new albums since 2006, until her EP "III" released in 2015 that didn't catch many listeners' attention. However, she recently released "Mad Love," and it raced to the top of the Billboard 200 pretty quickly. The album also features tracks with Alessia Cara, Wiz Khalifa, and Remy Ma, bringing a new touch of hip-hop sound to her style.
3. The Naked and Famous - Simple Forms
The Naked and Famous just released Simple Forms in mid-October, and so far the album is doing very well with a few catchy potential-hits. They came out with "Rolling Waves" in 2013, but did not have nearly as much success as this album has already achieved. "Higher" is the biggest hit so far, and I personally can't stop listening to it.
4. Green Day - Revolution Radio
Green Day is back and they are not messing around this time. They released "Revolution Radio" in the beginning of October, and the album is probably one of the best that they have put out in years. "Bang Bang" is the most popular song on the album, and it is one of my new workout jams. I am so happy they are back in action because this album definitely did not disappoint.
5. Solange - A Seat at the Table
Even though Solange will probably never be as iconic as her sister Beyonce, she sure is making a name for herself. She has released a few albums in the past that were not very big, but her recent release, "A Seat at the Table," has astounded everyone. Her unique laid-back R&B sound has landed her in the Top 20 albums on the Billboard 200 for the past few weeks.
6. Frank Ocean - Blonde
We were all wondering when Frank Ocean was going to come out with a new record...and it is finally here! "Blonde" was dropped towards the end of August. The transparency he displays combined with his minimalist R&B sound is unique to say the least. If you are a fan of his previous album, I definitely recommend listening if you haven't yet.
7. Bon Iver - 22, A Million
Bon Iver's first album, "For Emma, Forever Ago" is probably one of my favorite albums to this day. He hasn't released anything since 2011, so you could say fans were thrilled to hear he had a new album coming out. Iver brought a completely new sound to this album; what some are considering to be folktronica complex masterpiece. Each song on the album has a different story, and is so intriguing. Definitely a game-changer for Bon Iver.
8. Red Hot Chili Peppers - The Getaway
With RHCP being one of my all-time favorite bands, I was beyond excited to hear their new album and see what they were going to bring to the table. This is one of their most lush albums yet, and in my opinion every single song on this album is notable. I've had it on repeat the past month or so.
9. Kings of Leon - WALLS
Kings of Leon absolutely killed it with this album. It has been #1 on the Billboard 200 since it came out, and is helping make their name even stronger than it was before. Their consistency is shown on this album, with their raw alternative rock sound taken to the next level.
10. Good Charlotte - Youth Authority
Good Charlotte released "Youth Authority" over the summer, being their first album in six years. I don't think it is their best album yet by any means, but I did enjoy listening as the album classifies their pop/punk rock sound that we all used to love jamming to years ago.
11. Usher - Hard II Love
Yet again, Usher comes back to surprise us with another solid album we can't stop listening to. In September, Usher released "Hard II Love," his first album in four years. With tracks featuring Future and Young Thug, Usher brings back his old pop and hip-hop sound while amplifying his impressive vocals and also combining a catchy hip-hop flare.
