Lake Erie College is small school in Northeast Ohio of barely 1,000 students. Many people hear "Lake Erie College" and think

"Is that in Pennsylvania?"

or

"Isn't that a Community College?"

Lake Erie College's Football teams first club season was in 2006, making this year their 10th Season Anniversary. Coach McNellie has been the head coach for the Lake Erie Storm since the start of the program.

With it being the 10th anniversary of the program the coaching staff wanted to do something special to show how much the programs grown. In the spring semester of the 2015-2016 school year Coach Norton joined the coaching staff as the Defensive Line Coach. That's when he approached me, an Integrated Media, Digital Arts, and Technology major wanted to work with me to make a logo to help celebrate the 10th Anniversary. I was blessed that he entrusted me with such a task and such a great opportunity to showcase my skills as a graphic designer. Coach Norton was very straight forward about what he wanted, but was also open minded to my own ideas to put the logo together. He wanted the Lake Erie Storm's core values that they live by that are also listed in their facility. Their core values include:

Have Purpose Greater Than Yourself

Superior Work Ethic

Enthusiasm

Student Athlete

Community Service

He also wanted to connect the football team to the college with incorporating the logo with the Lake Erie College Emblem and including the year 1856-Which is when Lake Erie College was founded. Lastly, the roman numeral X represents the 10th year anniversary.

I presented multiple designs for Coach Norton to review and give feedback until we settled for the right logo. He then got test decals printed to assure that this was the perfect logo.

The logos were placed on the helmet for their season opener on Saturday, September 3. Now my logo will travel with them around the GLIAC as they take the conference by storm.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
