Ahh, road trips, an American pastime. Nothing quite compares to the long journey in the car. Sometimes you find yourself going someplace you may go all the time, or someplace new you're seeing for the first time. Sometimes there will be roadside attractions, sometimes there will be distractions. The road are always a place for great memories to be made!

1. Are we there yet?!

The classic line. When you have been driving for a while and the final destination is still seemingly a world away, this question endlessly pops up in your head.

2. I'm hungry

Maybe boredom causes hunger. But when you've already burned through a season and a half of Netflix before lunchtime, your stomach will be asking for food.

3. I'm thirsty

Even with the air conditioning on, the hot sun gets through the windows. Soon it's very hot in the car, which requires hydration.

4. I need a bathroom break

This happens more than it should, but will happen no matter what if you're drinking water or anything else. I'm sure mom and dad are thrilled every time I tell them I need a pit stop.

5. Please not this radio station again

When dad is doing the driving, I guess he does deserve the right to control the radio. But when he won't stop screaming the words to “Hotel California” and the song comes on for the fourth time that day, you begin to wonder why your father is nuts.

6. The scenery is gorgeous!

One of the best parts about road trips is getting to watch everything go by.

7. Thoughts about the city you're heading to

Sometimes these road trips are more about the destination than the journey.

8. I think I'll recline my seat

Yeah, I'm gonna need a nap along the way.

9. Gas prices

Even though I'm not the one paying for gas, I can't help but study the prices.

10) “ROCK CITY!”

Other than the fact that it's an attraction, about a two hour drive away from me, my family and I also play a unique game where we try and be the quickest one to spot a Rock City billboard or barn on the highway. The quickest person gets a point and whoever arrives with the most points wins. It's actually a blast and a great way to pass time in the car. No matter where you live, pick an attraction near your destination and see who can spot the most signs. Doing it will allow you to release emotions in the cramped car and fuel your competitive spirit while having lots of fun!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
