March, the third month of the year. A month typically chilly. The month that holds the beloved Spring Break and Saint Patrick's Day. And for many people, March Madness. Now, for those who usually aren't interested in basketball March Madness can be a confusing ailment. So many things are happening that we simply don't understand. Here is how we understand March Madness.
1. First of all, why call it Madness?
That just seems to be inviting something bad to happen. However, it would explain why everyone gets so heated when their team loses.
2. I made a bracket, but I just guessed?
I was not aware that there was some sort of actual planning to this. The odds of a perfect bracket are slim anyway, so what's wrong with my strategy, huh?
3. Why is it wrong to choose winner based on mascots?
All I'm saying is that of course tigers would beat birds. It's sound logic.
4. Wait, what sport is this for anyway?
Oh right, basketball. I'm caught up.
5. Somebody's job is doing all the stats for basketball?
Wow, that sounds terrible but also fun if you're really into basketball.
6. HOLD UP. People bet money on this stuff?
Well then, maybe I should've paid more attention when I made my bracket.
7. What do they get if they win?
Do they get a trophy? Bragging rights? What's the dealio because that's a lot of effort.
8. Wait, why am I suddenly interested in basketball?
Suddenly I've made a bracket and watched some games. What's happening to me?!
9. Wait, is March Madness contagious?
DID YOU DO THIS TO ME? IT'S EVERYWHERE I COULDN'T ESCAPE IT.
10. This happens every year, and every year, I'm still confused as to why I become so interested.
Suddenly I'm a basketball fan even though I chose my bracket completely based off mascots. But I'm just going to lie and pretend I didn't. Don't tell anyone. Please.
I'm still trying to figure out what happens every March but I'll just play along in the mean time.
