10 Things I Would Tell My Younger Self If I Could
Nairaland Forum

I sometimes look back on my life and think to myself "what could I have done differently?" As I've gotten older, I've learned so much over the years that I wish I would have known sooner. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and tell my younger self what life has taught me so I wouldn't be so hard on myself. These are a few of the things I would tell my young self:

1. Don't care so much about what other people will think of you.

There will be people who will think positively and negatively about you. However, do not let what other people think of you effect your life.

2. Appreciate every moment while you're young.

Because you only live once, and you're only young once.

3. Do NOT over pluck your eyebrows.

Pencil thin eyebrows are not cute and never will be cute.

4. Don't depend so much on other people.

You can do anything without anyone by your side. No one should hold you back from what you want.

5. Listen to the advice your parents give you.

They know what they're talking about when they say that boy is no good for you or if one of your friends seems "fake."

6. Prepare for heartaches.

Some people are going to hurt you. Just because the moment feels right, doesn't mean it will last forever. People come and go

7. Do your best in school.

In the end, it will definitely help you. All your hard work will pay off.

8. Use the right shade of foundation.

Yes, I know you want to be tan, but you look ridiculous with an orange face.

9. Don't be afraid to voice your opinion.

Your opinion matters just like everyone else's.

10. Lastly have fun and live your life to the fullest!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
