A dog is said to be a man's best friend. Dogs are so fun to be around, and they do make a great best friend. As you probably already know, dogs love being petted and scratched, but they also love attention, and it's about time we give them the credit they deserve. It is now time to thank dogs for all they do.
1. The welcome home every time you come home.
Who doesn't like being welcomed home every single time you go home? We can thank dogs for longingly staring out the window and awaiting our return. We can thank them for running to the door, and greeting us with a wagging tail and smile on their face.
You can be gone for ten minutes and they will still greet you like you were gone for a year. You can be away at college for several months, but thankfully your dog never forgets to welcome you once you come back home for breaks. After all, you're only going home to see him or her, right?
2. Appreciating the simple things.
You don't have to buy your dog the coolest, newest toy to make them happy. Seriously. You can make them happy by giving them a stick. Throw the stick, and they'll be even happier. Us humans take this lesson for granted. We can all thank dogs for teaching us that it's the simplest things in life that often matter the most.
3. Being a great pillow.
If you ever are in need of a pillow, but there is no pillow in sight, you always have your dog to lean on. Literally.
4. Being the ultimate addition to your selfie.
5. Keeping your seat warm.
For some great reason, dogs are naturally great seat warmers. If you get up off your couch to grab a snack, you can come back to your dog sitting in your spot. If you take them for a ride to the store, you will most likely come back to your car with your dog in the drivers seat. Now, this could be seen as a seat-stealer, but I like to thank them for keeping the spot nice and warm.
6. Cleaning up your messes.
Have you ever spilled some food that you needed to have cleaned up right away before someone noticed? Thank goodness your dog was watching you, waiting for you to drop a piece.
7. Protection from cars, squirrels and funny noises.
Thank you dogs for barking and letting us know every time a car drives by our house. Thank you for keeping us safe from the squirrels that run our yard. Thank you for making sure every strange noise we hear is something we are safe for. You silly, overprotective and furry animal.
8. Being there for all the "firsts" and awkward moments.
We've all been there. The meeting of the parents of the person you are dating. The first time going over to a friends house. Those can be some awkward times, but thank goodness for that furry friend who is there to make it less awkward. Also, thank you dogs for being there for all the "firsts", such as graduating high school.
9. They are good judges of people you should date.
Since your dog has become your best friend and loves you forever, they want to make sure you find someone who is also your best friend and will love you forever. It's part of them being a loyal pet. You make them happy, and they want to make sure you are happy. Invite the person you want to date over, and your dog will be sure to let you know if they like them or not. Plus, if they don't love your dog, will the relationship really work out in the end? You tell me.
10. Let's just thank dogs for overall being so great.
Dogs are always there for us. They are so cute, so fun and great to be around. Who doesn't smile when they're with a dog? Nobody. Plus, dogs make you look cool. So do yourself a favor and get a dog... or six.
