We are all human. We have bad days here and there; convincing ourselves the world is sometimes coming to an end and whatnot, but guess what; we are all still here, and we have most definitely made it through our most difficult of days.
The truth is: life is something so beautiful and special, and we frequently fail to recognize that when we get caught up in the everyday chaos we face. I chose this topic out of inspiration to try and make others view a bad day from a different perspective. We must choose to appreciate these bad days we are given and grow into better individuals from them. Life is way too short for us to dwell on a single day; instead, we should move forward and try to control what comes our way in the present or near future. Life just happens.
1. A bad day does not mean a bad life.
We are handed daily challenges for a reason. To question our actions, our purpose, and the people we are. This bad day does not define your life, it is only a bump in the road and is apart of your journey.
2. Only you can control your thoughts.
You have the ability to control your thoughts and overall perspective. The choice is all yours when choosing how you look at something. Decide for yourself if you want to better your thoughts with positivity and optimism or with negativity and grief. If I were you, I would choose the positive route as your guidance.
3. If life were easy, it'd be boring.
As we all know by now, life isn’t ever going to be easy. It is important you how some things are just out of our control and we must deal with what is given at that very moment. However, if there is something we can control, we should try our very best to control it or alter it in any way we can. Although life is difficult, it gives us something to live for. Not to just live physically by breathing, but to be active in the things we do and flexible through the struggles we encounter.
4. You can't move forward if you're stuck in the past.
It can be hard to let go of any difficult times you may have faced. Sometimes we believe it we must carry a burden on our shoulders, however, that is not the case. We should choose forgiveness, put the past behind us, and move forward in the now that we live in.
5. It's OK to cry at times.
I think sometimes people observe crying as some sort of weakness in today’s society. Crying is not a weakness by any means; it is a natural component of the emotion of sadness and it is important we know that it IS ok to cry sometimes. We shouldn’t choose to hold in our strong emotions, we should allow ourselves just a few minutes of acceptance towards the reality we endure.
6. Bad days make us appreciate the better ones.
Appreciate the beautiful aspects of life instead of any negatives. Life is something so special and every day should be spent at its fullest potential. Look forward to the amazing things that come up in the near future for you. Appreciate a good meal, time with your family, your friends—the people who care, and celebrate the great details of life.
7. Turn to the people who care about you.
The truth is, most people have a support system they are able to turn to if need be. If not, I’m here for you. Turn to those when you are need of support or advice. I’m sure they have experienced the exact feelings you feel at this moment, or if not, they have experienced something very similar. Ask for better ways to cope, better yourself, and feel inspired and blessed to have supportive people in your life.
8. Try to find the positives.
Think back about your day/week and how you felt. There had to have been moments of positivity and times you came across happiness. Think of those moments. Even if it was you just getting the first parking spot at the mall, I’m sure it made you happy in the moment, so think of that and let the positives outweigh the negatives.
9. With adversity, comes wisdom.
Adversity is inevitable, meaning we can’t truly avoid it even if we try. Lessons, however, are things we can take away from adversity. Create these lessons and choose to attack any problems upfront. Never run away; instead, develop or alter the problem into a life lesson and carry it ahead with you.
10. Tomorrow is a new day.
Bad days allow us to work on personal development, so we must choose to do so. Tomorrow you get to start over and are given a second chance. It doesn’t matter what happened yesterday or how you felt. In this new day you have already accepted any consequences and learned from them, so now you must move forward and better this new day with the best of your abilities.
