As students head to school for the fall semester, aspects of romantic relationships may change. Maybe you lived 5 minutes away from your partner, but as soon as school starts you'll be 3 hours apart. The change may be scary and you may not know how to handle it. This is where I come in. Being in a long-distance relationship for over a year, I've learned the in's and out's of handling distance in a relationship. Here are 10 things you'll experience if your relationship becomes long distance.

1. Just about everything around you reminds you of them.

Whether it's the spot you first met or their favorite seat on your couch, it's safe to say that they will constantly be on your mind.

2. People tend to believe that it won't work out just because of the distance.

You don't really understand what LDR is like until you're a part of it. People tend to fear it and that results in doubt. Fun fact: I had a physics teacher tell my whole class to dump our SO's after prom because it "will never work out in college" (even though it worked out for him). Let's see how many people listened.

3. Trust is more important than ever.

A lot will be said in an assumption of your relationship, but there's no need to let it get you if you trust your partner. They most likely aren't planning on cheating or being dishonest with you.

4. Hearing their voice is a blessing.

Texting is great for dealing with distance, but Skype/Facetime calls are where it's at. Every word you hear will be music to your ears.

5. You'll know their schedule like the back of your hand.

Usually, you end up memorizing when your partner has class and other activities while working out times to talk. It happens! It's always good to know what's going on, just don't be a creep about it.

6. You'll be sending and receiving spontaneous little gifts.

.

Maybe it's a letter, or maybe it's a full on care package. Either way, you and your partner will probably be finding fun ways to surprise each other and show that the spark is there.

7. Distance makes the heart grow fonder.

Contrary to belief, your relationship will actually grow stronger due to this change. Being able to face a challenge like distance will help you grow as both a couple and individuals!

8. The distance is temporary.

Just remember that you'll be together again in no time! You'll see each other again ASAP!

9. The goodbyes are absolutely dreadful.

10. You're constantly counting down to the moment you reunite.

Tick tock tick tock! You'll make plans to see them again and you immediately think "OK 3 days, 7 hours and 49 minutes until I see him again".

See? It's not as bad as it seems, right?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
