10 Things Big Girls Are Tired Of Hearing

Calling all the "chubby chasers" to the front row.

As a resident "plus size" woman I have a bone to pick (haha, especially if it's chicken amirite?). I know I am not the only woman over a size 12 who is downright TIRED of underhanded compliments, qualified statements, and pseudo-physicians.

So I confidently speak for my fellow big girls as I give you a list of s**t we are tired of hearing:

1. "You're pretty for a big girl."

Am I? Thank you. You're annoying for a person. We hate this. We hate this. We hate this. Sure, everyone is attracted to something different and no one is mad at you for that! But, for the love of all things bright and beautiful please stop with the underhanded compliments. It's actually not a compliment. Shocker. Just tell us we look good and keep it pushin', playa.

2. "Should you be eating that?" (or anything else referring to our eating habits).

This will always be grounds for a public drag. Honestly. No one really asks smaller people if they should be eating something. Be real. So why ask us? While your weight can be an indicator of health, understand that genetics are VAST. I workout 4 days a week, weight train, run, and eat a high protein diet. Sure, you may not see that from the outside but perhaps leave the nutritional questioning to the professionals. What should you be eating, boo? High cholesterol don't discriminate :)

3. "All fat people have to do is workout."

Thanks for the tip. Everyone should! A healthy heart is good for us all. I mean if that we're the plain solution I wouldn't be writing this. Once again, leave the advice to the professionals.

4. "I just loooove big girls."

Congrats. But, I don't care. We don't care. While we want to be loved like everyone else, we don't want to be your lil' fetish either. (Who else hates the phrase chubby chaser?). That doesn't flatter us, it really just makes us feel like objects. Admire us and go about your business.

5. "insert a fat insult that isn't aimed at us."

I mean, we've all been there. We insult someone in front of a person who that insult could apply to, then say "no, no but you're different." Just call a spade a spade. Or you know, don't say it?

6. Big girls should not wear tight or revealing clothing.

Bloop. This notion that bigger people in general are offensive for showing skin or wearing tight clothing is ridiculous. Literally, every single body on Earth is made differently. I'll rock my skinny jeans and crop top at my leisure.

7. Big girls can't play sports or be "gym rats."

See #3. I AM the gym, honey! And so many other plus size women are too. Since each body is built differently, the results of the gym don't look the same on everyone. Similarly there are some AMAZING plus size athletes who bring it HOME, baby. Consider Michelle Carter, USA Olympic Field Athlete, who was the first woman to win Gold for the USA Shot Put competition.

8. Big girls can't be sexually attractive or have enjoyable sex.

If you read my first article about Celibacy, I know you're ready to drag me. But, chill. I did say at the end of the article that I was speaking from experience :) Regardless of my lifestyle change I am still aware of the stigma and I've experienced it, too. It's nonsense that we cannot possibly be sexually attractive and our sexual experiences won't be enjoyable because we're not small. Incorrect. Simply put. One of my favorite Lifestyle/Fashion Vloggers, Corissa (aka "Fat Girl Flow") has an amazing YouTube Channel where she addresses sexual attraction/activities as a plus size woman. She kills it. I applaud her! Trust me, big women are not lacking when it comes to [genuine] sexual attraction.

9. Big girls should not be confident...because we're fat.

WELL. I have some bad news. I still feel like I'm the hottest one in the room when I go out. So, what's good? Women of all sizes have the right to be confident no matter what they look like. We're not going to sit around and hate ourselves just because you do. That's child's play.

10. "You would look so much prettier if you lost weight!"

Please log out. Switch user. Delete. Abort. Reset. If you don't find us pretty where we're at that's a YOU problem. How could our attractiveness pop out of nowhere? Was it hiding in my muffin top? Geez. That's rough. See #9. You not finding us attractive does not stop us from being attractive. Sorry you missed that memo.

Ladies, continue to do you. Eat a balanced diet, get some cardio in, drink your H2O and catch some ZzZz. Don't do this because you're a "big girl." Do this because you're a human being who needs to take care of herself, as we all should. You deserve all the love out there and you are radiant, sisters.

To the haters, it really does cost $0.00 to stay in your lane.

Pack light, y'all.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
