10 Things I Like About Being Short

As a 5'2" female it is no secret to the world that I am short. I have been told my entire life that I am "fun size" or "pint sized," words that I have come to cringe at. There are many things, however, that make being short totally worth all the stupid nicknames and elbow rest jokes.

1. Every sweater is a big sweater!

Every sweater is automatically giant! Swaddling us in comfort and warmth, and giving us those cute long sleeve flippers!

2. I will be able to fit into the juniors section forever!

No matter how old I get I will always be able to stay with the fashion trends and save money doing so! I would call that a bonus.

3. You can fit literally anywhere

I can fit in that awkward small chunk of the backseat or a cramped couch. I have even fit in a cooler, which I believe makes me the reigning champ of hide and seek.

4. People find you genuinely adorable

Don't get me wrong, this can sometimes be annoying but most of the time people calling you cute or adorable can be quite the confidence booster!

5. Every little thing can become an adventure

Things as simple as getting my laundry, where I have to lean all the way into the washer, become a large ordeal and I never know what I am going to get myself into.

6. People will switch seats with you at concerts or sporting events

When I go to football games seeing can be a challenge. On multiple occasions people have offered to switch rows with me so I can see!

7. Everyday is cardio day

Whether I am walking with my friends or to class I find myself trying to keep up with others. More often than not this ends up in a fast walk or a mild jog. My friends have learned to walk slower because my little legs can not carry me nearly as fast as them.

8. You surprise people with how strong you are

People tend to write you off as the last person that can help lift something or help with any manual labor. During move in weekend i shocked many families by carrying carts up and down the stairs. I am small and mighty!

9. You can burrito in any blanket

The perk of wrapping up in a blanket and not having your feet dangle out of the bottom is easily my favorite thing about being short. You are constantly warm and there is no draft, making it optimal Netflix conditions.

10. People write cute quotes about being short!

One of my all time favorite quotes! It inspires me everyday to remember that even though I am tiny, I am fierce and powerful!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
