It's officially that time of year. Classes are ending and finals are about to begin, which means it is time to move into the library! As we all work hard for endless hours to complete those final papers and projects, we can't help but admit the sad truth, we've officially mentally checked out for the semester. Although we all joke around about this sad fact, we all know we wish we could have hung in for just a few more essays.
Here are 10 facts that everyone finds true at the end of the semester.
1. You don't care how many sweatshirts you wear.
The first week of classes, we all tried our best to find the cutest outfits and woke up 20 minutes earlier to make sure our hair and makeup looked just right. But let's be honest, our morning routines now consist of throwing on a pair of yoga pants and the closest sweatshirt, then it's hair up and out the door.
2. Coffee is not a choice.
Forget the occasional drive to Dunkin' Donuts or Starbucks, you now appreciate the 24-ounce coffee at the book store. You begin to realize that one cup won't work, so three cups is the new norm.
3. Sleep isn't a real thing anymore.
Late nights lead to early mornings, and soon you realize you can't remember the last time you got an actual good night's sleep. Everyone always told you how important sleep is, but somehow you are still moving, probably because you don't have a choice.
4. You spend more time in the library than your own room
Every morning you wake up and go through your plan for the day: Go to class, grab some lunch, go to the library, break for dinner, then go back to the library (probably until it closes), then sleep for a few hours and do it all over again. It is an endless cycle, and we all fall into it.
5. You and your friends have claimed a library table as your own.
We all know the one table that we always end up at with our friends; the one with the outlet really close by, of course. That is deemed your table, and you will stare down anyone who steals it or even thinks about stealing it. You and your friends all have a mutual understanding that that is the table you meet at, cry at, and live at.
6. Dropout jokes... aren't just jokes anymore.
We all love making those great jokes about how we are going to drop out and live with our moms forever, but now you start to see how nice that sounds. No more projects, presentations, tests, or essays. Just you, your mom, and a nice home cooked meal and free laundry! Sounds better and better every time you hear it.
7. Friends are most important.
Whether it's that break down in the library at 1 a.m., or sitting through the last few classes, you learn how much you need your friends. They are the ones to walk you through a hard assignment, or to send you motivational texts to get you through. You know that you would not be surviving the end of the semester without them, and your love for them has grown to extremes.
8. You learn how strong you are.
Yes, there are moments when you just want to give up or moments when the breakdowns are just too often, but at the end of the day, you keep moving forward. Why? Because you are strong, and you can do this!
9. A 2.0 in a class sounds OK.
Although a 4.0 would be great, as the semester winds down, you realize how all you really want is to get the credits and move on with life. A 2.0 sounds better and better as more and more assignments are added to the to-do-list.
10. You realize you have to do it all over again next semester.
You are finally almost done, and then it hits you -- round two next semester! But don't stress too much. Sit back and enjoy winter break and all that it has to offer. Enjoy the time with your family, and refresh yourself because next semester you get a fresh start to make new memories and have more laughs in the library.
