1. That resolution to wake up at least one hour before your first class every day, is growing shorter and shorter by the day.
When you're first getting back into the swing of school, it feels good to have plenty of time to shower and eat before class. As assignments start keeping you up though, the snooze button starts to become much more tempting than a morning coffee and looking presentable in your 9 a.m.
2. As for making it to class, that 5-minute early arrival has morphed into a "just as the professor begins their lecture" arrival.
Continuing the thought process of #1, it is harder and harder to uphold your resolution not to put yourself in a position where you constantly have to rush.
3. Planning ahead is now planning for tomorrow.
As the semester ensues, you try to decrease your instances of procrastination by doing things as much in advance as possible and planning for future projects and deadlines. But as the days get busier and the assigments more in depth, you just want to do what needs to get done for tomorrow and get into bed.
4. Those things you promised to knock off your to do list this week, have been pushed back.
It's hard to work on getting things done ahead of time, when that reading due tomorrow is calling your name.
5. The 24 hours in the day are just seeming so short.
When you're up by 8, making the most of your time in between classes, and ahead on work, spare time seems to come somewhat easily. However, when you and time are not on each other's sides it seems like there's barely enough to complete all that you want and need to.
6. You and your email inbox are on tense terms.
When time is of the essence and every task is a priority, checking your emails to find reminders of deadlines, test dates, and requests for your time/attention can be pretty anxiety-inducing.
7. Deadlines seem to be fast approaching.
Wasn't it January 1st like, yesterday? How can midterms and the major declaration deadline possibly be coming up?! All that pressure can have you feeling like you want to run away from adult responsibility like..
8. On the one hand, summer is on its way, but so is crunchtime.
While summer being just around the corner is super exciting, it also means that many assignments, commitments, and exams stand between you and a lovely reprieve.
9. You feel in limbo between getting on your A-game and not neglecting self care.
You want to be on top of everything and reaching all your goals, but you also want to sleep for 12 hours after seven hours worth of class.
Don't be too hard on yourself, everyone has off days and needs self-care days. Just try to find a balance between being kind to yourself, and trying your hardest to produce the results that you want.
10. You're prepping yourself mentally to rock the semester before summer.
All of this being said, remember that "the lazy [person] does twice the work" and that a "problem delayed is a problem denied" so try to push yourself to be as on top of your tasks as you possibly can. Working hard now tends to pay off later!
