For those of you who aren't aware, Leslie Knope is a fictional character from the NBC comedy, Parks and Recreation. This show is one of my favorites of all time and I highly recommend it to anyone who's in the market for a new show to binge. Besides my love for this show, I have love for the characters, particularly Leslie Knope, portrayed by Amy Poehler. I love everything she stands for and she's someone I aspire to be, as should you. She completely changed the way I view life and inspired me to do anything that I wanted to. To give you more of an insight into her character, I've composed 10 reasons why we, as people, should be more like Leslie Knope. Leslie, this one's for you, you beautiful, rule-breaking moth.

Reason 1: She's an amazing friend

She's always there for her best friend, Ann, as well as her other friends from Pawnee. She encourages them with her odd words and comforts them when they need it. Be an amazing friend like Leslie Knope.

Reason 2: She's passionate

She's an advocate for women's rights and stands up for what she believes in whenever she gets the chance. When she discovered women were not hired for garbage truck pickups, she took a shift one day to prove that women could do the same job as men. Be passionate like Leslie Knope.

Reason 3: She's hilarious

Even if she's not intentionally trying to be funny, she somehow manages to bring light into the room with a sarcastic comment or joke. She's out there, spunky, and funny. Be hilarious like Leslie Knope.

Reason 4: She's supportive

Regardless of what you're doing, Leslie will be there for you to show her support. Be supportive like Leslie Knope.

Reason 5: She's loving

She gives her heart to Ben and is so in love with the life they've created together. She spends everyday loving him and the people around her. Be loving like Leslie Knope.

Reason 6: She loves breakfast

Loving breakfast food makes you a better person because you start your day right, it's tasty, and delicious. Leslie's favorite breakfast food is waffles. Someone who's down for breakfast at all times of the day is someone you should strive to be. Be enthused about breakfast like Leslie Knope.

Reason 7: She's a great gift-giver

Leslie doesn't just give you gifts on birthdays, but also on bizarre anniversaries you share or out of the ordinary. She's always thoughtful with her gift and enjoys giving them. Be a great gift-giver like Leslie Knope.

Reason 8: She's organized

Leslie has a binder for every occasion, which is obviously color coded. She takes things seriously and never half-asses anything. She knows what she's doing and how she's going to do it. Be organized like Leslie Knope.

Reason 9: She's persistent

Leslie worked her way from Pawnee's Parks and Recreation department to the Governor of Indiana. She worked hard for her goals and it paid off. Be persistent like Leslie Knope.

Reason 10: She believes in herself

With everything she does, she goes in with a positive attitude and trusts herself. She knows she has the power to change the town of Pawnee and the world. She never stops believing in herself, even when there are bumps in the road. Believe in yourself like Leslie Knope.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
